ANGER BREAKS BONDS

Ephesians 4:25-32

we are members of one another. Be angry but do not sin. . .  and do not make room for the devil

Ephesians 4:25c-27 (NRSV)

            An anonymous thinker said, “An intelligent man would never be irritated if he had a mirror before him and saw himself when he argued.”

            Life is full of situations that can make us angry. In our families, schools, at work, in social life,  and even in the Church we can experience circumstances that irritate us. We may think that the solution to our problems is to act aggressively, raising our voice, using hard words that don’t build up, thus undermining the love and community to which we, the sons and daughters of God, are called.

            The Apostle Paul calls on the Church in Ephesus to put aside anything that threatens the health and emotional equilibrium of the faithful. Letting ourselves be carried away by anger, envy, or hate is doubtless a bad option for our relationships and our lives.

 

 

Prayer: Lord, we surrender control of our lives to you so that you can make us more loving people understanding that anger and aggression are not the solution to our problems and disagreements. The only solution is love. Amen.

EL ENOJO ROMPE LAZOS

Efesios 4.25-32

 

… somos miembros los unos de los otros. Airaos, pero no pequéis…ni deis lugar al diablo.

 

Efesios 4:25c-26

            Un pensador anónimo dijo: “Un hombre inteligente jamás se irritaría si tuviera delante siempre un espejo y se viera cuando discute”.

            La vida está llena de situaciones que nos pueden llevar al enojo. En nuestras familias, escuelas, trabajos, sociedad y también en la Iglesia podemos experimentar circunstancias que nos irriten.Quizás pensemos que la solución a nuestros problemas es actuar de forma agresiva, levantando la vozy usando palabras duras que no edifiquen, atentando así contra el amor y la comunidad a la que estamos llamados los hijos e hijas de Dios.

            El Apóstol Pablo llama a la Iglesia en Éfeso a desechar todo aquello que atente contra la salud y el equilibrio emocional de los creyentes. Dejarse llevar por la ira, la envidia o el odio es, sin duda, una mala opción para nuestras relaciones y vidas. 

 

Oración: Señor, te entregamos el control de nuestras vidas para que hagas de nosotros personas más amorosas, para que comprendamos que el enojo y la agresividad no son la solución de nuestros problemas y desacuerdos, sino solo el amor. Amén.
