DON’T GIVE UP, ALWAYS DO GOOD
GALATIANS 6:1-10
So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 (NRSV)
Who among us has never wondered why, in spite of striving to do good, bad things usually happen, or what one tries to fix ends in total disaster, or what is done to others with the best of intentions seems to be quite the opposite? And we do not realize that we almost never think about each other’s good but what we consider “good” from our position. And it’s this little detail that makes us disappointed or frustrated and decide to stay inactive and do nothing for the sake of someone else.
The Galatians’ text gives us a beautiful invitation: Don’t get tired of doing good. In spite of sorrows, as we would say in good Cuban, don’t give up, don’t throw in the towel, but I invite you to think about what is the good we are exhorted to do? The good that satisfies our ego, that for which others applaud me in the Church? How well will everyone admire me when I comment on it, or put a photo on the Internet? Or does the good that feeds the soul and makes sincere goodness and gratitude spring from hearts?
Prayer: God allow only the sincere desire to do someone good come out of my heart. Amen.

NO DESMAYES, SIEMPRE HAZ EL BIEN
GALATAS 6:1-10
No nos cansemos, pues, de hacer bien; porque a su tiempo segaremos, si no desmayamos.
Gálatas 6:9
¿Quién de nosotros no se ha preguntado alguna vez porqué, a pesar de esforzarse por hacer el bien, generalmente le suceden cosas malas, o lo que trata de arreglar termina en desastre total, o lo que hace con la mejor de las intenciones a otros le parece todo lo contrario? Y es que no nos damos cuenta que casi nunca pensamos en el bien del otro sino en aquello que nosotros, desde nuestra posición, consideramos que “está bien”. Y es este pequeño detalle el que hace que nos decepcionemos o frustremos y decidamos quedarnos estáticos y no hacer nada más por el bien de alguien.
El texto de Gálatas nos hace una invitación hermosa: No se cansen de hacer el bien. A pesar de los pesares, como diríamos en buen cubano, no te rindas, no tires la toalla, pero. le invito a pensar ¿cuál es el bien que se nos exhorta a hacer? ¿El bien que satisface nuestro ego, aquel por el que los demás me aplaudirán en la iglesia? ¿ El bien que todos admirarán cuando lo comente o ponga la foto en la Internet? O ¿el bien que apacienta el alma y hace brotar bondad y gratitud sinceras de los corazones?
Oración: Dios permite que solo salga de mi corazón el deseo sincero de hacerle bien a alguien. Amén.
