FAITH, BUT WITH ACTS

James 2:14-26

Show me your faith without deeds and I will show you my faith by my deeds…

James 2:18, 20

            I’ve always liked James’ epistle because he gets straight to the point, as we say in good Cuban. 

            “The body without spirit is dead; faith without works is as well.” It would be fitting to add another thing here: to claim oneself to be Jesus’ follower without doing what he taught us to do is to deceive ourselves, not others, because they’re watching us daily, and we’re not fooling God because he’s omnipresent and everywhere.

            Why say that I have Christ inn my heart if my actions demonstrate just the opposite? Why preach about Christ if what goes in one ear comes out the other, not even bothering to reflected upon it in our minds to reason them out as it really and fundamentally is by our example?

            Practice what we preach with our lips, with our example, with our works. To be a Christian without works is very easy and comfortable, but with works…

 

Prayer: We ask you, Jesus, that we learn to be doers of the Word and not just hearers of it. Amen.

FE…PERO CON HECHOS

Santiago 2:14-26

Muéstrame tú fe sin tus obras, y yo te mostraré mi fe por mis obras… la fe sin obras es muerta

Santiago 2:18, 20

            Siempre me ha gustado la epístola de Santiago porque él va directo al grano, como decimos en buen cubano.

            “El cuerpo sin el espíritu es muerto, la fe sin obras también”. Cabría decir aquí otra cosa: Decirse seguidor de Cristo sin hacer lo que ÉÉl nos enseñó que hiciésemos, es engañarnos a nosotros mismos, no a los demás, porque estos nos están viendo a diario, y mucho menos engañamos a Dios, porque Él es Omnipresente, está en todo lugar.

            ¿Por qué  decir que tengo a Cristo en mi corazón, si mi actuar demuestra todo lo contrario?  ¿Para qué predicar a Cristo, si su Palabra nos entra por un oído y nos sale por el otro, no llegando ni siquiera a nuestras mentes para razonarlas como es en verdad, y en lo fundamental, con nuestro ejemplo?

            Demostremos lo que predicamos con nuestros labios, con nuestro ejemplo, con nuestras obras. Ser cristianos sin obras es muy fácil y cómodo, pero con obras….

 

Oración: Te pedimos Jesús que aprendamos a ser hacedores de  la Palabra y no solo oidores de ella. Amén.
