EXHORTATION TO KEEP WATCH

Luke 21: 34-36

Be on guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day does not catch you unexpectedly,

Today’s passage exhorts us to be on the alert, because we do not know exactly when the Son of God will return.  In the text we read, he warns us to look inwardly lest our hearts be filled with ambition, selfishness, gluttony, and we become intoxicated with things that have nothing to do with the Kingdom of God.

The second coming of Christ will be like a master returning unexpectedly from a journey.  What will he find his servants doing?  The answer is simple but compelling.  When the Son of God returns, he must find us awake in action, praying, serving and helping those in need, forgiving our enemies; and something very important, preaching His Word and His teachings to every creature.

Are we ready for the occasion?  We need to be prepared at all times so that His coming does not surprise us.  To be prepared means to look to the Lord, to repent of any sin.

 

Prayer: Beloved Lord, give me the faith to keep watch and be ready for your return, for I want to be worthy of this fact. Amen.

EXHORTACIÓN DE VELAR.

Lucas 21: 34-36

Mirad no  sea  que nuestros corazones se carguen de  glotonerías y se embriaguen de los afanes de esta vida...

Lucas 21: 34

El pasaje de hoy nos exhorta que debemos estar en alerta,  porque no sabemos exactamente cuándo regresará el Hijo de Dios.  En el texto que leemos, nos advierte que nos miremos  por dentro  no  sea  que nuestros corazones  se  llenen  de  ambiciones, egoísmo, glotonerías y nos embriaguemos de  cosas que no tienen que ver con el Reino de  Dios.

La segunda venida de  Cristo  será como un amo que regresa  inesperadamente de un viaje.  l,Qué hallará haciendo a sus  siervos?  La respuesta  es  sencilla  pero  comprometedora.  Cuando el Hijo de  Dios  regrese debe encontrarnos despiertos  en acción, orando, sirviendo y ayudando a los necesitados,  perdonando a nuestros enemigos; y algo muy importante,  predicando su Palabra y sus enseñanzas a toda criatura.

¿Estamos preparados para la ocasión?  Es necesario  que  estemos preparados en todo momento para que su venida no  nos sorprenda.  Estar preparados significa mirar al  Señor,  arrepentirnos de cualquier pecado.

 

Oración:  Señor amado, dame la fe para mantenerse velando y  lista para tu regreso, pues quiero ser digna de este hecho.  Amén
