I CRY OUT TO YOU, LORD

1 Samuel 1:24-28

And she said, “Oh, my lord! As you live, my lord, I am the woman who was standing here in your presence, praying to the Lord. For this child I prayed; and the Lord has granted me the petition that I made to him.

The Habit of Prayer

Whoever forms the habit of sincere prayer then experiences the notorious and profound change in his life.

It kindles the illuminating light within the soul. We see ourselves.

We notice their selfishness, their vanities, their misgivings, their greed, their mistakes.

We acquire a sense of moral responsibility. We become intellectually humble.

In this way, we undertake the journeys that lead souls towards grace...

It is this one force in the world that seems to overcome the so-called “laws of nature.”

There is, however, another miracle, hidden, silent, constant: “the one that happens day by day, hour by hour, in the hearts of those who found in prayer a source of perennial strength.”

The most powerful prayer is not the one with which we ask for mercy, but the one that implores from God the grace of union with Him. We are to see in prayer an exercise which makes us feel in God’s presence.

We pray because when we pray, we do not do so only to ask God to remember him: we feel that the human creature must remember his Creator.

Lord, my God, I praise you because you have worked with wisdom and mercy in me and in the people I love. May my life be more closely linked to you and may we strengthen the bonds of our relationship. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

A TI CLAMO SEÑOR

1 Samuel 1:24-28

Y ella dao: ¡Oh, señor mío! Vive tu alma, señor mío, yo soy aquella mujer que estuvo aquí junto a ti orando a Jehová. Por este niño oraba, y Jehová me dio lo que le pedí.

El hábito de la oración

Quien forma el hábito de la oración sincera, experimenta luego el cambio notorio y profundo en su vida...

Enciende ella en lo interior del alma luz iluminadora. El hombre se ve a si mismo.

Advierte sus egoismos, sus vanidades, sus recelos, su codicia, sus yerros.

Adquiere un sentido de responsabilidad moral. Se hace intelectualmente humilde.

Emprende de esta manera las jornadas que lleva a las almas hacia la gracia...

Es esta única fuerza en el mundo que parece sobreponerse a las llamadas "leyes naturales" En los casos en que se manifiesta de modo súbito y dramático la gente exclama: "milagro".

Hay, empero, otro milagro, escondido, silencioso, constante: "el que ocurre dia a dia, hora a hora, en el corazón de los que hallaron en la plegaria manantial de perenne fortaleza".

La oración que más fortalece no es aquella con la cual pedimos mercedes, sino la que implora de Dios la gracia de la unión con Él. Hemos de ver en la oración ejercicio que hace sentir en nosotros la presencia de Dios...

Ora porque El hombre [y la mujer] cuando ora, no lo hace únicamente para pedirle a Dios que se acuerde de él [ella]: siente que la criatura humana debe acordarse de su Creador.
