SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16

WE DO NOT RECOGNIZE OURSELVES

Matthew 17: 10- 13

But I tell you Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him.  (NIV)

Matthew 17:12

Elijah had come to do the right thing, to establish order; but in response to that, the reaction was opposite to what was expected. How we are so like this passage! Sometimes we do not pay attention to what is established; we flout laws and ethical principles, we ignore what implies order, and we do what suits us. All this encourages chaos and the lack of respect for others. Are we aware of our actions? Do we act appropriately in respect and solidarity with our neighbors? Or do we appeal to the phrase “me first?” The truth is that, in the face of any action to the detriment of people, it makes us unrecognizable before God, who accepts us just as we are.

Faced with the equality that unites us and makes us human beings with rights, faced with the search for a dignified life and well-being for all, we build barriers that kill the joy of well-being.

We cannot continue trampling on each other for power, to achieving what we want regardless of who is harmed, for manipulating and distorting the truth.  

When our intentions are not good, we distance ourselves from God, and we are not worthy of the image and likeness of him. For this, we must ask God for forgiveness.

 

Let us pray: Lord, I ask for your forgiveness, to always do what is best for me. I apologize for the lack of sensitivity that resides in me. Excuse me Lord. Amen.

NO NOS RECONOCEMOS

Mateo 17: 10- 13

Pero les digo que Elías ya vino, y no le reconocieron.

Mateo 17:12

Elías había venido a hacer lo correcto, a plantar el orden. Pero ante eso, la reacción fue opuesta a lo esperado ¡Cuánto de similitud no tiene este pasaje con nosotros! A veces no hacemos caso a lo establecido, burlamos las leyes y los principios éticos, ignoramos aquello que implica orden y hacemos lo que nos conviene, animando al caos, a la falta de respeto hacía el otro y la otra. l,Somos conscientes de nuestras acciones? l,Actuamos debidamente en respeto y solidaridad con nuestro prójimo? O l,apelamos a la frase “lo mío primero”? Lo cierto es que ante toda acción en detrimento de las personas, nos hace irreconocibles ante Dios, quien nos acepta tal y como somo

Ante la igualdad que nos une y nos hace seres humanos con derecho, ante la búsqueda de una vida digna y de bienestar para todos, construimos barreras que matan la alegría del bien-llevar.

No podemos seguir pisoteándonos por poder, por alcanzar lo que queremos sin importar por encima de quien, por manipular y tergiversar la verdad.

Cuando nuestras intenciones no son buenas nos alejamos de Dios, y no somos dignos de su imagen y semejanza. Por esto, debemos pedir perdón a Dios.

 

Oremos: Señor, pido por tu perdón, por hacer siempre lo que me conviene por encima de ti. Pido perdón por la falta de sensibilidad que habita en mí. Perdóname Señor. Amén.
