An Extraordinary Faith

Matthew 8: 5-13

“Truly I tell you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith. . .

Matthew 8:10b (NRSV)

Advent prepares our souls for these two great events that we receive by faith. We see that great faith in the Holy Scriptures in the Roman centurion. The centurion approached Jesus seeking help, not for himself, but for his servant. Jesus was going to go to heal him, but the centurion, as a Roman, didn’t feel worthy of the Lord entering his home; only a word from the All Powerful would suffice to cure him. Tremendous faith! Only one word suffices to cure our wounded hearts. Only one word from Jesus is enough to change everything; it’s only necessary to have faith.  And what happened? Everything was done according to the centurion’s request.

Prayer: Our God, thank you for healing our pain; thank you for your great love shown in all of human history. We pray that our faith may grow, mature, and resemble that of the centurion. In the name of Jesus Christ our lord and Savior amen.

Día de la lucha contra el SIDA

Una fe extraordinaria

Mateo 8: 5-13

En verdad os digo que en Israel no he encontrado en nadie tanta fe.

El adviento prepara nuestras almas para estos dos grandes acontecimientos que recibimos por fe. Esa gran fe la vemos en la Sagradas Escrituras en el centurión romano. El centurión se le acercó a Jesús pidiendo ayuda, no para él, sino para su criado. Jesús iba a sanarlo, pero él como romano no se sentía digno de que el Señor entrara en su hogar, solo una palabra del Todopoderoso bastará para sanarle. ¡Tremenda fe! Una sola palabra bastará, para curar nuestro corazón herido, una solo palabra de Jesús basta para que todo cambie, solo hay que tener fe. Y ¿Qué sucedió? Todo se hizo conforme a la petición del centurión.

Acerquémonos al Hijo del Hombre no solo por nuestros sueños, propósitos y problemas, sino también, por aquellos que sufren a nuestro alrededor, es la labor del Cuerpo de Cristo, interceder, servir, darse sin reserva. ¡Que Dios pueda encontrar en nosotros esa misma fe que tuvo el centurión!

Oración: Dios nuestro gracias por sanar nuestros dolores, gracias por tu gran amor manifestado en toda la historia humana. Te pedimos que nuestra fe crezca, madure y se parezca a la del centurión. Por Jesucristo nuestro señor y Salvador. Amén
