EVE OF THE GREAT FESTIVITY

MATTHEW 2:1-10

"Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews?

For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage."

Matthew 2:2

Every year at the coming of Christmas, the world is full of delight. With growing care, we make certain not to ignore this significant date. Big and little, rich and poor, all with great joy celebrate the exchange of gifts with the beat of music and with dancing and feasting. The earth seems to turn in harmony, but the reality is that in many hearts, the question never arises: "Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews?”

Thanks be to God that the same star that shone so majestically in the sky of the Middle East, still shines brightly this Christmas. It invites us, even though we are far from being Magi, to come to Bethlehem and worship the Child King. Let’s ask ourselves: What do we need to have reborn in our lives as we stand before the child of Bethlehem?

God invites us to make the Nativity a reality in our life. God is prepared to maintain in us and in our homes a continual Nativity which gives meaning to our lives and a great peace which allows us to invite others to the feasts of the great King.

                    

Prayer: Lord, let us always be in celebration with you. Thank you for sharing with us the good news of the birth of your Son in a manger, and for showing us the simplicity of life and your love for your people. Amen.

VÍSPERA DE LA GRAN FIESTA

MATEO 2:1-10

¿Dónde está el Rey de los Judíos que ha nacido?

Pues vimos su estrella y hemos venido a adorarlo

Mateo 2:2

Cada año al llegar la Navidad el mundo se llena de regocijo. Con creciente diligencia nos preparamos para no pasar por alto esta significativa fecha. Grandes y chicos, ricos y pobres, todos con gran júbilo, festejan intercambiando regalos, al compás de la música, con danzas y banquetes.

La tierra parece girar en armonía, pero la realidad es que en los corazones de muchos no surge la pregunta: ¿Dónde está el Rey de los Judíos que ha nacido?

Pero gracias sean dadas a Dios, porque, al igual que aquella estrella refulgió majestuosamente en el cielo del  Medio Oriente, esta Navidad sigue brillando igual. Nos convida, aunque estemos tan lejos como aquellos magos, a acercarnos a Belén y adorar al Niño Rey. Preguntémonos ¿Qué debemos hacer renacer en nuestras vidas junto al niño de Belén?

Dios nos invita a hacer de la Navidad una realidad en nuestra existencia. Él está dispuesto a mantener dentro de nosotros y en nuestro hogar una continua Navidad, que dé sentido a nuestra vida y una inmensa paz, que permita que convidemos a otros a las fiestas del gran Rey.

                    

Oración: Señor, permítenos estar siempre de fiesta contigo. Gracias porque al compartirnos la buena noticia del nacimiento de tu Hijo en un pesebre, nos alertas sobre la sencillez de la vida y el amor por tu pueblo. Amén.
