OUR TIME

ECCLESIASTES 3:1-12

For everything there is a season,

and a time for every matter under heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:1

These days everyone lives in a state of agitation without even time for the essential things in our daily life: getting up in the morning and thanking God for the beautiful sunrises, as well as the sunsets when the sun sinks into the horizon, and admiring the beauty of nature in all of its facets. We continually think about time, time in which we have achieved or failed to achieve. If our time is placed in the service of the Lord, if we allow him to direct our path, we will find our days longer and happier.

Only God knows the time for each and every thing that occupies our minds. Although our hopes seem endless, let us place our worries in his hands because he is the absolute master of time. Let us concern ourselves with doing what is good, as the preacher in Ecclesiastes urges us. Let it be God who directs our time.

Prayer: When we gather to relive the birth of your Son, o God, teach us to understand that you, you alone, are the master of our time. It is only to you that we should entrust our time to guide our steps each day. Grant that this birth may be an opportunity to cultivate patience, hope, and to strengthen our faith.  Amen.

EL TIEMPO NUESTRO

ECLESIASTÉS 3:1-12

Todo tiene su momento oportuno; hay un tiempo

para todo lo que se hace bajo el cielo

Eclesiastés 3:1

Hoy en día se vive agitadamente, sin tiempo apenas para cosas que son esenciales en cada día que nos toca vivir: levantarnos en las mañanas y agradecer a Dios por los amaneceres hermosos, así como por los atardeceres, cuando el sol se pierde en el horizonte; admirar la belleza de la naturaleza en toda su dimensión.

Continuamente pensamos en el tiempo, en lo que hemos hecho o nos falta por hacer. Si nuestro tiempo es puesto a la disposición del Señor, si dejamos que él dirija nuestro camino, encontraremos días más largos y felices.

Solo Dios sabe cuál es el tiempo para todas y cada una de las cosas que ocupan nuestra mente. Aunque nuestras esperas nos parezcan interminables, pongamos nuestras preocupaciones en sus manos, pues él es dueño absoluto del tiempo.

Preocupémonos por hacer el bien, tal como nos dice el predicador en Eclesiastés. Dejemos que sea Dios quien dirija nuestro tiempo.

Oración: Cuando nos acercamos a revivir el nacimiento de tu Hijo, oh Dios, enséñanos a entender que eres tú, sólo tú, el dueño de nuestro tiempo. Solo a ti debemos encomendar nuestro tiempo, guía nuestros pasos de cada día. Permite que esta navidad sea una oportunidad para cultivar la paciencia, la esperanza y fortalecer nuestra fe. Amén.
