PERSIST AND KEEP SINGING

JOB 1:13-22

And we know that in all things

God works for the good of those who love him,

who have been called according to his purpose. (NIV)

Have you ever observed the behavior of birds when they’re building their nests? They spend days and days collecting materials, at times from long distances; and many times, when they’re finished and ready to lay their eggs, inclement weather or the perverse hand of some human being, or at times even an animal destroys it and throws to the ground what so much work has achieved.

What does the bird do then? Does it halt, abandon the task?  Not a chance; it begins anew until it succeeds in laying its eggs in the nest. It is painful to begin from zero; but even so, the bird never mutes its song nor retreats, it continues building and singing.

It hurts to begin from zero. Thousands of people will say so after hurricane Irma passed, and they lost everything, or rather almost everything, because they preserved their lives.

If you are tired of restarting, of the wear and tear of daily battle, of betrayed trust, of losing things you’ve already acquired, then persevere and keep singing. When life deals you another blow, proceed, put your hope and eyes on God, who is always with us. Don’t worry if during the battle you suffer some wound, it’s to be expected that something like this will happen. Gather up your hope, and armed anew, charge again. No matter what happens, keep going forward, and above all, never stop singing.

Prayer: Lord, although it may be hard to begin from zero, we know that you will be at our side, infusing us with breath and strength. Thank you for your unconditional love for us, even in the worst circumstances. Amen.

PERSEVERA Y SIGUE CANTANDO

JOB 1:13-22

Y sabemos que a los que aman a Dios,

todas las cosas les ayudan a bien…

¿Has observado alguna vez la actitud de los pájaros cuando están construyendo sus nidos? Se pasan días y días recogiendo materiales a veces traídos desde largas distancias. Y muchas veces cuando están terminados y listos para poner los huevos, las inclemencias del tiempo o la mano perversa de algún ser humano, o a veces hasta otro animal, lo destruye y tira por el suelo lo que tanto trabajo se logró. ¿Qué hace entonces el pájaro? ¿Se paraliza, abandona la tarea? De ninguna manera: vuelve a comenzar una vez más hasta que logra poner sus huevos en el nido.

Duele comenzar de cero. Pero aun así el pájaro jamás enmudece ni retrocede: sigue construyendo y cantando.

Duele empezar de cero. O si no que lo digan los miles de personas que al paso del huracán Irma lo perdieron todo; o más bien, casi todo, porque conservan su vida.

Si estás cansado de recomenzar, del desgaste de la lucha diaria, de la confianza traicionada, de perder cosas que ya tenías conseguidas, persevera y sigue cantando. Así te golpee la vida una vez más, prosigue, pon tu esperanza y la vista en Dios quien siempre está con nosotros.

No te preocupes si en la batalla sufres alguna herida, es de esperar que algo así suceda. Junta la esperanza, ármala de nuevo y vuelve a arremeter.

No importa lo que pase, sigue adelante; y sobre todo nunca dejes de cantar.

Oración: Señor, aunque sea duro comenzar de cero, sabemos que tú estarás a nuestro lado infundiéndonos aliento y fuerza. Gracias por tu amor incondicional para con nosotros, aun en las peores circunstancias. Amén.
