WORD OF POWER, WORD OF LIFE
GENESIS 1:1-4
...through the Word was life, and the life was the
light for all people.
The light
shines in the darkness, and the darkness doesn’t extinguish the light.
John
1:4-5 (CEB)
The world
is surrounded by energy. Matter is constantly transforming our surroundings,
generating energy processes that happen unnoticed, but are present and shape
our existence.
In the
beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The creating act affirmed in
our creeds begins with the voluntary decision of God to use the power of His
Word to change the darkness and the chaos into a world of light and order. The power is God’s. God had wanted to manifest it through natural
processes.
But the
Word reached a climax in the incarnate word. For us human beings, the true
reason to shine and not be in the dark is that our words also can be used to
give light, they have power and we should use them for good.
Paul
counseled the Colossians to have a Word that
gives grace, seasoned. He further
counseled them that all they said would be something to give glory to God (Col.
3:17, 4:6). This should be our exhortation
for today as well. We live in a world
where the power of words is not being utilized many times for life, but instead
is used for death. Let’s contribute to change.
Prayer: Lord, give us always
words of knowledge, love, and understanding, words of life. Amen.

PALABRA DE PODER, PALABRA
DE VIDA
GÉNESIS 1:1-4
En él estaba la vida, y la vida era la luz de la
humanidad.
Esta luz brilla en las tinieblas, y las tinieblas
no han podido apagarla
Juan 1:4-5
El mundo está rodeado de energía. La materia se transforma a nuestro
alrededor constantemente, generándose procesos energéticos que pasan
desapercibidos, pero están presentes y condicionan nuestra existencia.
En el principio creó Dios los cielos y la tierra. El acto creador afirmado
en nuestros credos comienza por la decisión voluntaria de Dios que utiliza el
poder de Su Palabra para cambiar las tinieblas y el caos por un mundo de luz y
orden. El poder es de Dios. Él ha querido manifestarlo mediante procesos
naturales.
Pero la Palabra tuvo un clímax en el verbo encarnado. Para nosotros los
seres humanos, la verdadera razón de brillar y no ser tinieblas es que nuestras
palabras también pueden ser empleadas para dar luz, ellas tienen poder y
debemos utilizarlo para bien. Pablo aconsejaba a los Colosenses que tuvieran
una Palabra que dé gracia, sazonada. Aconsejaba además que todo lo que
dijeran fuera algo que diera gloria a Dios. (Col. 3:17; 4:6) Esa debe ser
nuestra exhortación para hoy también. Vivimos en un mundo donde el poder de las
palabras no está siendo utilizado muchas veces para vida, sino para muerte.
Contribuyamos al cambio.
Oración:
Señor, danos siempre palabras de sabiduría, de amor y comprensión, palabras
de vida. Amén.
