CROSS OF LIFE

MATTHEW 16:21-28

Then Jesus said to his disciples,

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves

and take up their cross and follow me.”. (NIV)

Matthew 16:24

The brightness of the cross is becoming more intense and attractive as we move away from that age of dreams and fantasies. Christ’s cross isn’t about flowers or gold. It’s the cross that reminds us what people like Peter, Mary, Jesus’ mother, Mary Magdalene, the first witness of the resurrection, Paul, James, Andrew, Phillip, Steven, and those whose human suffering and death didn’t separate them from the Lord.

The cross of Jesus, across all the ages, has become a necessity in our lives of which we can no longer do without because of its message and the content it contains. We suffer pains, death, injuries, privations, necessities, and threats, but nothing can separate us from our path that is the only one that leads us to salvation.  

Prayer:  Loving God, may the death of your Son, Jesus, help us to reflect on his sacrifice for humanity, and his commitment to your kingdom of justice and peace. May we never lose sight

of what this represents for each one of us. Amen.

CRUZ DE VIDA

MATEO 16:21-28

A sus discípulos Jesús les dijo: “Si alguno quiere seguirme,

niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame...

Mateo 16:24

El brillo de la cruz va siendo más intenso y atrayente a medida que nos vamos alejando de esa edad de sueños y fantasías.

La cruz de Cristo no es de flores, no es de oro. Es la cruz que nos recuerda lo que enfrentaron  personas como Pedro, María la madre de Jesús, María Magdalena, primera testigo de la resurrección, Pablo, Santiago, Andrés, Felipe, Esteban, aquellos que el sufrimiento humano y la muerte no los apartó del Señor.

La cruz de Cristo a través de todas las épocas se ha convertido en una necesidad en nuestras vidas, de la cual ya no podemos prescindir por su mensaje y el contenido que encierra.

Sufrimos dolores, muertes, injurias, privaciones, necesidades, amenazas, pero nada nos puede apartar ya de nuestro camino que es el único que nos conduce a la salvación.

Oración: Dios amoroso, permite que la muerte de tu Hijo, Jesús, nos ayude a reflexionar sobre su sacrificio para la humanidad y su compromiso con tu reino de justicia y paz. Haz que nunca perdamos de vista lo que esto representa para cada uno de  nosotros. Amén.
