Thursday, April 4 TEACH ME THE WAY PSALM 86

Teach me your way, O LORD . . .

Psalm 86:11a (NRSV)

Living is walking, moving; it’s going somewhere and having a goal for a destination. The most common experience for all of us is that we are not walking, we are running toward death.

The Psalmist knows, as you and I do, that there are paths that from the beginning lead to the abyss, to darkness and to doom. These are paths we have traveled and paid the price to travel over them: bitterness, anguish, anxiety and sometimes despair, tragedy and agony. But even more the Psalmist also knows that there are good ways, agreeable paths, routes which lead to desired ends, and he feels that all of God’s ways are like that.

That’s why he fervently asks that God show him the way where truth shines like the morning sun. That is one of the Lord’s ways, the way of truth. Therefore, let’s walk that road, the way of the revealed truth that is Jesus Christ. Then we will enjoy other blessings which God grants in addition: an abundant life, an ineffable love that only God can give to those who pay the price of walking in the light like children of light.

Prayer: Lord, we have traveled paths that are not your paths and it has gone badly for us. Now, Lord, we want to walk in the way which you taught us in Jesus Christ, the way of truth shining with indescribable love and abundant life. Amen.

ENSÉÑAME EL CAMINO SALMO 86

Enséñame, oh Jehová, tu camino…

Salmo 86:11a

Vivir es caminar, es ir hacia alguna parte, es tener una meta como destino. La experiencia más común de todos es que no solamente caminamos, sino que corremos hacia la muerte.

El salmista sabe, como sabemos tú y yo, que hay caminos que conducen al principio, al abismo, a las tinieblas, a la perdición. Caminos que en parte hemos recorrido y hemos reconocido el precio que se paga por transitar por ellos: amargura, angustia, ansiedad y a veces desesperación, tragedia y agonía. Pero, además, el salmista sabe que hay caminos buenos, senderos agradables, rutas que conducen a metas deseadas, e intuye que todos los caminos del Señor son así. Por eso, le pide fervoroso que le enseñe su camino, donde resplandece como un sol matinal su verdad. Y ese es uno de los caminos del Señor, el camino de la verdad. Caminemos, pues, por este camino de la verdad revelada que es Jesucristo, y disfrutaremos de las otras bienaventuranzas que Él otorga por añadidura: una vida abundante y un amor inefable que sólo Él puede dar a los que pagan el precio de andar en la luz y como hijos de la luz.

Oración: Señor, hemos recorrido senderos que no son tus senderos y nos ha ido muy mal. Y ahora queremos, oh Dios, andar por el camino que nos enseñaste en Jesucristo, camino de la verdad, resplandeciente del amor inefable y de la vida abundante. Amén.
