Resurrection Sunday!
HE LIVES!
LUKE 24:1-12
If Christ hasn’t been raised, then our
preaching is useless, and your faith is useless…
1 Corinthians 15:14 (CEB)
The women went to Jesus’ tomb to prepare
the body, but they found something totally unexpected. They were petrified and did not know what to
do until a man with shining white robes cleared the situation up a little
bit. Later the women left convinced that
something amazing had happened, but when they told it to the disciples, they did not believe them, but they thought
that they had gone crazy. A Cuban
version of the story might go like this: “they did not believe them, and the news
seemed more like ‘gossip and women’s stories.’”
What would have happened to the movement
of Jesus without the courage provided by those women! I like how the story puts forward the novelty,
the unexpected, the not pre-conceived, as that which prepares us to understand
an empty tomb. Do you continue trembling
before the unexpected, before that which disturbs you, before that which goes
contrary to your rational logic, despite your learning that faith is confidence
in that which we cannot see? Do you continue
looking for and proclaiming a dead Jesus and not the Resurrected One? Today you have the opportunity of proclaiming
that Jesus is alive! We trust in the
testimony of our women, youth, boys and girls, and the elderly because all can help
us understand the message that He is alive!
Prayer: Lord, who today opens the doors of life
for us through your Son, victor over death, grant us that, renewed by the
Spirit, we may live in the hope of our future resurrection. Amen.

Domingo de Resurrección
¡ÉL ESTÁ VIVO!
LUCAS 24:1-12
Si Cristo no resucitó,
esta buena noticia que anunciamos no sirve para nada, y de nada sirve tampoco que ustedes crean en
Cristo.
1 Corintios 15:14
Las mujeres fueron a la
tumba de Jesús para preparar el cadáver, pero lo que encontraron al llegar fue
algo totalmente inesperado. Se asustaron mucho y no sabían qué hacer hasta que
unos varones con vestiduras resplandecientes les aclararon un poco la
situación. Luego las mujeres salieron convencidas de lo extraordinario que
había sucedido pero al contarlo a los discípulos, no les creyeron, sino que
pensaron que ellas se habían vuelto locas. Una versión cubana de la historia tal vez diría… “no les creyeron y la
novedad les pareció más bien “chismes y bretes de mujeres”.
¡Qué hubiese sido de
aquel movimiento de Jesús sin la valentía, la disposición de aquellas mujeres!
Me gusta como el relato propone lo novedoso, lo inesperado, lo no preconcebido,
como lo que nos prepara para entender la tumba vacía. ¿Sigues tú temblando ante
lo inesperado, ante lo que te descoloca, ante lo que va contra tu lógica
racional, a pesar de que aprendiste que la fe es la confianza en lo que no
vemos? ¿Sigues buscando y proclamando un Jesús muerto y no al Resucitado? Hoy
tienes la oportunidad de proclamar que ¡Jesús está vivo! Confiemos en el
testimonio de nuestras mujeres, los jóvenes, las niñas y los niños, las
personas ancianas porque todos nos pueden ayudar a entender el mensaje de que
¡Él está vivo!
Oración: Señor, que en este día
nos abres las puertas de la vida por medio de tu Hijo, vencedor de la
muerte, concédenos que, renovados por el
Espíritu, vivamos en la esperanza de nuestra resurrección futura. Amén.
