THE COVENANT

Genesis 9:8-15

And God said. “This is the sign of the covenant I am making betweenme and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:…”

Genesis 9: 12 NIV

According to science, rainbows appear when raindrops act like little prisms and the white light from the sun shines on one side of a water droplet. It is reflected on the other side of the droplet and then goes out into the sky as a circular arc or arc of color that refracts or splits into the spectrum of colors.

In the biblical story, the rainbow appears for the first time in the flood, when God made it rain for forty days and flooded the whole earth leaving without life everything that existed, except a certain Noah and his family, and a group of pairs of birds and animals that were kept safe in the wooden ark. After all this time the rain stopped, and the rainbow appears as a sign of God’s new covenant with human beings and gives us again the responsibility for the care of all Creation. In this act the Father shows his purpose and redemption for each one of us.

The covenant is perpetual and nothing and no one can destroy it, because God offers us new opportunities every day to make amends and become better human beings. The assurance of his love and goodness is renewed at all times.

May Lent be a time to reconcile ourselves with God in the hope of reconciliation. This new covenant demands commitment and dedication. In every attempt there are also options for others to participate in these kindnesses because we are all important and deserving.

 

Prayer: Thank you Father for the hope of a new life of commitment and the certainty of your grace and forgiveness every day. Amen

EL PACTO

Genesis 9:8-15

Y dijo Dios: Esta es la sepal del pacto que yo establezco entre mi y Vosotros y todo ser viviente que está con vosotros, por siglos perpetuos:

Según la ciencia, el arcoiris aparece cuando las gotas de lluvia actúan como pequepos prismas y la luz blanca del sol brilla en un lado de una gota de agua, que se refleja en el otro lado de la gota y luego sale al cielo como un arco circular o arco de color que se refracta o divide en el espectro de colores.

En la historia biblica, el arcoiris aparece por primera vez en el diluvio, cuando Dios hizo llover por cuarenta dias e inundar toda la tierra dejando sin vida todo lo que existia, excepto un tal Noé y su familia, y un grupo de parejas de aves y animales que se mantuvieron a salvo en el arca de madera. Luego de todo este tiempo la lluvia cesó, y aparece el arcoiris como resultado del nuevo pacto de Dios con los seres humanos y vuelve a darnos la responsabilidad del cuidado de la Creación toda. En este acto muestra el Padre su propósito y la redención para cada uno de nosotros.

El pacto es perpetuo y nada ni nadie podrá destruirlo, porque Dios nos ofrece oportunidades nuevas cada dia para enmendarnos y hacernos mejores seres humanos. La seguridad de su amor y bondades son renovadas en todos momentos.

Que la Cuaresma se tiempo para reconciliarnos con Dios en la esperanza de la reconciliación. Esta nueva alianza demanda compromiso y entrega. En cada intento existen también las opciones para que otros participen de estas bondades porque todos somos importantes y las merecemos.

 

Oración: Gracias Padre por la esperanza de una vida nueva de compromiso y la certeza de tu gracia y tu perdón cada dia. Amén
