FEBRUARY 22, THURSDAY

AND YOU, WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?

Matthew 16:13-19

And you, who do you say I am?

Matthew 16:16

This text shows that the basis of the Church is faith in Jesus, Christ, the Son of God.

The faith in Christ that Peter first proclaims among the apostles is something that comes from God, which shows that it is a human option, a sentimental attachment. It does not come from flesh or blood, an expression that among the Jews designated what in men is something properly human, what the mortal does and understands with his abilities.

This statement from Peter is the key that opens the doors of the Kingdom of God.

Opening our hearts to Jesus is the key that we must proclaim, without excluding people.

 

Prayer: Thank you, beloved God, because our fragility and our scars do not limit your work in our lives. We put our trust in you that you will take care of everything we need and we will never be helpless. Amen.

Y USTEDES, ¿QUIÉN DICEN QUE SOY YO?

Mateo 16: 13-19

Y ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy yo?

Mateo 16:16

Este texto pone de manifiesto que la base de la Iglesia es la fe en Jesús, Cristo, el Hijo de Dios.

 

La fe en Cristo que Pedro proclama primero entre los apóstoles, es algo que viene de Dios, que muestra que la misma es una opción humana, una adhesión sentimental. No viene de la carne ni de la sangre, expresión que entre los judios designaba lo que en los hombres es algo propiamente humano, lo que el sermortal hace y comprende con sus capacidades.

 

Esta declaración de Pedro es la llave que abre las puertas del Reino de Dios.

 

Abrir nuestro corazón a Jesús es la clave que debemos proclamar, sin exclusión de personas.

 

Oración: Gracias amado Dios porque nuestra fragilidad y nuestras cicatrices no te ponen limites para obrar en nuestras vidas. Ponemos en ti nuestra confianza en que te harás cargo de todo lo que necesitamos y nunca seremos desamparados. Amén.
