GOD’S FORGIVENESS WORKS IN OUR HEARTS

Matthew 6:9-15

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Matthew 6:14 (NRSV)

Before I knew Christ, I was a person filled with hatred and bitterness, and—most sadly—I took pride in being that way: in my sharp memory for never forgetting the wrongs which had been done to me. What a heavy burden my heart carried!

My daughter, who had already given her life to the Lord, told me on several occasions: “Mom, you’ll come to know the Lord one day, and the first thing He’ll do is cleanse your heart of so much bitterness.” In my ignorance, I laughed and said, “No one is going to change that.” Well, my daughter spoke on behalf of the Lord! God worked in my heart, bringing healing to my soul!

Today I recognize that forgiveness brings peace to life. Today my heart is cleansed of all bitterness. Goodbye to my grudges! Today I confess that I try to love as God desires me to: even those I do not know. I desire to act justly because God loves me, and I must be consistent with that boundless love.

Prayer: Lord, cleanse the hearts of your children who have not yet felt the joy that comes from forgiving as we have been forgiven. Thank you for your boundless love! In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

El Perdón de Dios Obra en Nuestros Corazones

Mateo 6: 9-15

“Porque si perdonáis a los hombres sus ofensas,
os perdonará también a vosotros vuestro Padre celestial”.

Mateo 6: 14

Antes de conocer a Cristo yo era una persona llena de odios y remordimientos y, lo más triste, es que sentía orgullo de ser así: de mi buena memoria para no olvidar las ofensas recibidas. ¡Qué gran peso cargaba mi corazón!

Mi hija, que ya había entregado su vida al Señor, en varias ocasiones me dijo: mami tu conocerás al Señor un día, y lo primero que Él hará será limpiar tu corazón de tantos rencores. Yo en mi ignorancia me reía y decía: eso no lo va a cambiar nadie. ¡Pues mi hija habló en nombre del Señor! ¡Dios obró en mi corazón trayendo sanación a mi alma!

Hoy reconozco que el perdón trae paz a la vida. Hoy tengo mi corazón limpio de toda amargura. ¡Adiós a mis rencores! Hoy confieso que intento amar como Dios desea que lo haga: incluso a aquellos que no conozco. Deseo actuar con justicia porque Dios me ama y debo ser consecuente con ese amor sin límites.

Oración: Señor limpia los corazones de tus hijos que aún no han sentido el gozo que da el perdonar como fuimos perdonados. ¡Gracias por tu amor en extremo! En el nombre de Cristo Jesús, Nuestro Señor. Amén.
