DELIGHT IN THE LAW?

PSALM 1: 1-3

“...but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”

Psalm 1: 2

For the Hebrews, Law means teaching, instruction.  This text invites us to meditate, to reflect upon, to continually study the teachings contained in his Word. And it is not just a matter of intellectualizing that Word. We must find daily delight in the Law; in other words, we must enjoy it and allow it to become part of our emotions. The psalm shows us three results of achieving this:

1– We will grow and become strong, like a tree planted by streams of water.

2– We will be able to benefit others, offering the faith and joy known to those who follow the will of God.  We will yield fruit.

3– Our actions will enrich our lives and as well as the lives of those around us, and we will prosper in whatever we do.

Reading the Word is the wisdom that nourishes us and makes us grow.   

Prayer:  God of truth, make us wiser in the knowledge of your Word and grant that it be the guide to our conduct. Amen.

¿DELICIA EN LA LEY?

SALMO 1: 1-3

“...mas se complace en la ley de Yahveh,

su ley susurra día y noche!.”

Salmo 1: 2

Para los hebreos Ley significa enseñanza, instrucción. La Ley de Yahveh son las enseñanzas de Dios. El texto nos invita a meditar, a reflexionar, a estudiar continuamente esas enseñanzas contenidas en su Palabra. Y no sólo se trata de llevar esa Palabra al intelecto. Es necesario que encontremos delicia en la Ley, es decir que la disfrutemos y que forme parte de nuestras emociones. El salmo nos muestra tres resultados para el que logre esto:

1– Crecerá  y será fuerte, como un árbol que se nutre con las aguas.

2– Será capaz  de beneficiar a otros, ofreciendo la fe y la alegría del que conoce y sigue la voluntad de Dios, dará frutos.

3– Sus acciones enriquecerá su vida y la de los que le rodean, y todo lo que hace prosperará.

La  Lectura de la Palabra,   es la savia que nos nutre y hace crecer.

Oración:  Dios de verdad,  haznos más sabios en el conocimiento de tu Palabra y que ella sea la guía en nuestro proceder. En nombre de Jesús. Amén.
