ANSWER FOR YOURSELF

SAINT JOHN 9:1-41

“‘We know he is our son,’ the parents answered, ‘and we know he was born blind.  But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.”

Saint John 9:20-21

We who have known the healing that there is in the word of the Gospel can answer for ourselves. One of the spiritual realities of a human being is assuming responsibility for oneself.  However, it is easy to find irresponsible persons, who do not know how to give an adequate response to their commitments, to their actions. He who has known the healing power of Jesus Christ will know how to respond out of personal experience. Bearing witness is something implicit within the experience itself of salvation.  There can be no renewal within the Christian experience without the testimony that our lips give to that healing and salvation.

A believer who recently converted from Hinduism was asked for the theological reasons surrounding the mystery of the character of Christ, in accordance with the Christian faith.  His reply was: “I cannot explain more to you than a single thing: before, I was an unhappy man, a slave to my vices and sins.  Today I am a new man, a renewed person.”  No one can answer for us about the renewing power of Jesus Christ. It is you and I who know this power, and we are the only ones who can give an account of him to the world.

Prayer: God of all renewing power, transform our lives and grant that our words and actions may be satisfactory responses to the salvation that we have received in Jesus Christ. Amen.

“”Respondiéronles sus padres, y dijeron: sabemos que éste es nuestro hijo, y que nació ciego: mas como vea ahora, no sabemos: o quien le haya abierto los ojos, nosotros no lo sabemos; él tiene edad, preguntadle a él, él hablará de sí”

San Juan 9:20-21

Los que hemos conocido de la salud que hay en  la palabra del Evangelio, respondemos por nosotros mismos. Una de las realidades espirituales del ser humano la constituye su responsabilidad. Sin embargo, es fácil encontrar personas irresponsables que no saben dar respuesta adecuada a sus compromisos, a sus actuaciones. El que haya conocido el poder sanador de Jesucristo, sabrá responder de su experiencia. El testimonio es algo implícito en la propia experiencia de salvación. No existe experiencia renovadora a lo cristiano sin que nuestros labios no testifiquen de esa sanidad y salvación.

A un  creyente recién convertido del  hinduismo, alguien le preguntó por razones teológicas acerca del misterio de la personalidad de Cristo, de acuerdo con la fe cristiana. A ello contestó: “No puedo explicarle más que una sola cosa: antes era un hombre infeliz, esclavo de mis vicios y pecados. Hoy soy un hombre nuevo, renovado”. Nadie puede responder por nosotros acerca del poder renovador de Jesucristo. Somos tú y yo quienes conocemos este poder, los únicos que podemos dar al mundo razón de él.

Oración: Dios de todo poder renovador, transforma nuestra vida y permite que nuestras palabras y acciones sean respuestas adecuadas a la salvación que hemos recibido en Jesucristo. Amén.
