IT HAPPENED IN
NAIN
Luke 7:11-17
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their
wounds.”
Psalm 147:3
In other
religions it is the believer who goes in search of divinity. In Christianity, by contrast, it is God who
goes in search of the believer.
This assertion
is reaffirmed in Nain. When Jesus saw
that woman, who had lost her only son, he felt compassion for her and said to
her: “Don’t cry.” How often in our lives do we also need to
listen to comforting words such as these!
Our God does
not want us to be sad or in pain. We should never blame God for our
suffering. Jesus approached the widow at
the moment at which she most needed him, because he knew what it was to suffer.
It is impossible for God to like seeing our sadness, but if you are sad
today, might it be on account of not allowing him to draw close to your
life? Allow him to approach you, so that
he can give you the comfort that you need.
Prayer: God of the brokenhearted, thank you for having mercy on those who are sad
and distressed. Amen.
SUCEDIÓ EN NAÍN

descorazonados, y sana sus heridas”

En las otras religiones, es el creyente quien va en
busca de la divinidad. En el cristianismo, por el contrario, es Dios el que
busca al creyente.
En Naín se verifica esta afirmación. Cuando Jesús vio
a aquella mujer, que había perdido a su único hijo, sintió compasión de ella y
le dijo: “No llores”. ¡Cuántas veces también necesitamos escuchar en nuestras
vidas palabras consoladoras como éstas!
Nuestro Dios no quiere que estemos tristes ni
angustiados. Nunca deberíamos culpar a Dios por nuestros sufrimientos. Jesús se
acercó a la viuda en el momento en que ella más lo necesitaba, porque él sabía
lo que era sufrir.
Es imposible que a Dios le
guste vernos tristes, pero si hoy los estás, ¿no será porque no les has
permitido acercarse a tu vida? Déjalo entonces acercarse, para que pueda darte
el consuelo que necesitas.
Oración: Dios de los corazones
rotos, gracias por compadecerte de quienes están tristes y desconsolados. Amén.
