CONFESSING JESUS CHRIST

Mark 8:27-35

“Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”

Romans 10:11

Jesus is not interested in what the people think about him, but he nevertheless wants to know what his closest followers say about him: those who make the effort to closely follow him; those who call themselves his friends.  Do we really know Jesus, or is our knowledge of him “second-hand,” indirect, intellectual or distant? It is important not to limit ourselves to superficiality. Even in the times of the Lord, many heard something about him, but few entered into a personal relationship in order to really know him.

For us, friendship with Jesus Christ demands knowledge of the Bible, especially of the gospel.  In its pages we find the words of eternal life, living words and as relevant as they were when pronounced by the Teacher. The gospel tells us that Peter boldly confessed that Jesus was the Messiah in front of the other apostles. In the same way, we should have the courage to publicly confess our faith in Christ.  If we remain united to him, we will be able to do great things and to open the hearts of others.

Prayer: Lord, you are my God, You are my Savior, You are the Friend and faithful companion who has been with me at every moment of my life. Amen.

“Todo aquel que cree en él, no será defraudado”

Romanos 10:11

A Jesús no le interesa saber qué piensa de él la multitud, sin embargo, quiere conocer qué dicen de él sus seguidores más cercanos, aquellos que se esfuerzan por seguirle en primera fila, los que dicen ser sus amigos. ¿Conocemos realmente a Jesús o es nuestro conocimiento de él de “segunda mano”, indirecto, intelectual o distante? Es importante que no nos limitemos a la superficialidad. Ya en tiempos del Señor, muchos escucharon algo acerca de él, pero pocos entraron en una relación personal hasta conocerlo realmente.

Para nosotros, la amistad con Jesucristo, exige el conocimiento de la Biblia, sobre todo del evangelio. En sus páginas encontramos las palabras de vida eterna, palabras vivas y actuales como cuando fueron pronunciadas por el Maestro. El evangelio nos dice que Pedro se atrevió a confesar a Jesús como el Mesías delante del resto de los Apóstoles. De igual manera, nosotros hemos de tener la valentía de confesar públicamente nuestra fe en Cristo. Si permanecemos unidos a él, podremos realizar grandes cosas y abrir el corazón a los demás.

Oración: Señor, tú eres mi Dios, Tú eres mi Salvador, Tú eres el Amigo y fiel compañero que ha estado conmigo en todos los momentos de mi vida. Amén.
