THE SOURCE OF POWER

Galatians 6:1-10

“A man reaps what he sows.”

Galatians 6:7

When the Nazis evacuated Antwerp, in their retreat and when the end of the war was imminent, they had planned to blow up piers of greatest importance.  The technical preparations had been perfected; but the operation could not take place because they first blew up the power plants of electrical energy and did not have the electricity needed to light the fuses.  The explosion never occurred. 

Many of us have had similar experiences.  We formulate projects and consider ourselves capable of carrying them out, but we never do. This is because we have nullified the source of power and energy.  We have lost our contact with God, through our negligence or carelessness, and when we most need it we do not have it.

It is in God, through Jesus Christ, that we must find the spiritual power that we so need. It is up to us to make use of the prescribed means of grace—prayer, reading the Bible, meditation and worshipping God—only then will we receive the powerful spiritual current.

Prayer:  Lord, grant that we may not lack the energy to do good to all others, especially within the family of faith. Amen.

Cuando los nazis evacuaron Amberes, en su retirada y cuando ya era inminente el fin de la guerra, tenían proyectado volar los muelles de mayor importancia. Los preparativos técnicos se habían perfeccionado; pero la operación no se pudo realizar, porque primero volaron las plantas de energía eléctrica y no tuvieron electricidad para encender los fusibles. La explosión no se produjo.

Muchos de nosotros pasamos por experiencias semejantes. Formulamos proyectos y nos consideramos capaces de       desarrollarlos, pero jamás logramos su realización. Esto se debe a que hemos nulificado la fuente de poder y de energía. Hemos perdido nuestro contacto con Dios, por nuestra negligencia o descuido, y cuando más falta nos hace no la hemos tenido.

Es menester que en Dios, por medio de Jesucristo, encontremos la potencia espiritual que tanto necesitamos. Nos corresponde hacer uso de los medios de gracia prescritos —oración, lectura de la Biblia, meditación y adoración a Dios—, solo así recibiremos poderosa corriente espiritual.

Oración: Señor, ayúdanos para que non nos falte la energía a fin de hacer bien a todos, especialmente a la familia de la fe. Amén.
