PLEASING VISITS

PSALM 27

Come near to God and he will come near to you.

James 4:8

Some people approach us just to ask favors; once they’re satisfied they disappear and one doesn’t see them until they need us again.

Like them, don’t we at times have the tendency to pray to the Lord only to lay out our needs?

He wants us to speak to him about everything concerning our lives. But He also wants selfless visits of affection.

If we’re going to visit someone only out of obligation, will that be a true friendship? It’s very different to visit someone out of sympathy and pleasure.

This is how we should pray to the Lord. True prayer is not a painful duty; it’s proof of trust in Him, a sign of a profound communion with Him.

So don’t fret about tiring Him, because for Him prayer is responding to an urgent invitation. God invites us to incline our thoughts toward Him, and free ourselves of all worry of speaking to Him, listening to Him, and later praising Him with a glad heart. He awaits us, and rewards us with joyful moments of communion with Him.

Prayer:  Thank you, Father, for the day you have gifted me today. May we know how to lead lives that are pleasing to you. May we know today how to enjoy this communion with you that you have made for us with such goodness.

SALMO 27

Acercaos a Dios, y él se acercará a vosotros

Santiago 4:8

Algunas personas acuden a nosotros simplemente para pedirnos favores. Una vez satisfechas, desaparecen y no se les vuelve a ver más hasta que nos necesitan otra vez.

Como ellas ¿no tendremos la tendencia a veces a orar al Señor solo para exponerles nuestras necesidades?

El quiere que le hablemos de todo con respecto a nuestras vidas. Pero también desea visitas de afecto, no interesadas.

Si vamos a visitar a alguien solo por compromiso ¿será una amistad verdadera? Muy diferente es visitar a alguien por simpatía, y donde nos sintamos a gusto.

Así es como deberíamos orar al Señor. La verdadera oración  no es un penoso deber, es una prueba de confianza para con Dios, la señal de una profunda comunión con Él.

No temamos cansarle, porque orar es responder a una urgente invitación de su parte. Dios nos invita inclinar nuestros pensamientos hacia Él y librarnos de toda preocupación para hablarle, escucharle y luego alabarle con corazón alegre. Nos espera y nos otorgará felices momentos de comunión con Él.

Oración: Gracias Padre, por el día que me regalaste hoy. Que sepamos tener una vida agradable ante ti. Permite que en este día sepamos disfrutar de esa comunión contigo que tanto bien nos hace. Amén.
