You Are the Potter, I Am the Clay

GENESIS  2:4-7

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,

which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

Proverbs 4:18

We live at a dizzying pace. Everything happens fast: fast food, instant coffee, airplanes getting faster . . . . "There's no time to lose!" However, we cannot expect Christian growth and responses to prayer will always come in instantaneous fashion.

Some people expect God to act immediately, as if at the touch of a remote-control button we could receive a response in minutes. "Heal me, Lord." Beep! and you’re already healthy. "Lord, get me a visa." Beep! ready in a few minutes!" Anyone who hopes to find such shortcuts will suffer grave disappointments.

The Christian life is a process of growing. We are born into the Christian life, and continue growing, going through different stages and maturing. God's presence influences and transforms our being, making his character more and more evident in us.

You are growing, perhaps not in the way you had hoped, but have no fear; God knows what he's doing. He is attending to your character, shaping your life, teaching you to live by faith. If you go through trials and if you fail in anything, the loving and patient potter still holds you in  his hands and will not leave you until his work is finished.

Don't be discouraged. Renew your strength! In time you will see the fruits of what has been sown today.

Prayer: Then I felt it: your hands had always shaped me. Amen.

Tú el alfarero, yo el barro soy

GÉNESIS  2:4-7

Mas la senda de los justos es corno la luz de la aurora,

que va en aumento hasta que el día es perfecto

Proverbios 4:18

Vivimos a un  ritmo vertiginoso, todo sucede rápidamente: comida rápida, café instantáneo, aviones cada vez más veloces... “¡No hay tiempo que perder!”

Sin embargo, no podemos esperar que el crecimiento cristiano y las respuestas a la oración siempre vengan de manera instantánea.

Algunos esperan que Dios actúe instantáneamente, como si  al tocar un botón del control remoto, fuéramos a recibir la respuesta en minutos. «Sáname Señor” ¡pip!, y ya estás sano,   «Señor que me den la visa”: ¡pip!, ¡listo en pocos minutos!

Si alguno espera encontrar semejantes atajos, sufrirá grandes decepciones. La vida cristiana es un proceso de crecimiento. Nacemos a la vida cristiana y vamos creciendo, atravesando diferentes etapas y madurando. La presencia de Dios afecta y transforma nuestro ser, haciendo que su carácter se manifieste cada vez más en nosotros.

Estás creciendo; quizás no en el sentido que esperas, pero no temas: Dios sabe lo que hace. Está tratando tu carácter, moldeando tu vida, enseñándote a vivir por fe.

Si pasas por pruebas, si has fallado en algo, el alfarero amoroso y paciente aún te tiene en su mano y no te dejará hasta acabar su obra. Y esas promesas de plenitud se cumplirán.

No te desanimes. ¡Renueva tus fuerzas!, a su tiempo, verás el fruto de la siembra de hoy.

Oración: Entonces lo sentí: tus manos, desde siempre, me habían moldeado. Amén.
