BY FAITH
HEBREWS 11:1-3
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped
for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
The Bible offers Abraham to us as a model of the man of
faith--someone to whom God once said, "Leave your homeland!" and
immediately, he set out on the journey. "To leave your homeland"
means to tear out by the roots our ordinary manner of thinking and living, to
leave behind the plans which we had thought so important, our past and all that
moors our body and spirit to go either outward or into ourselves.
"To leave your homeland" means to leap over any
set of convictions to dwell in a desert of doubt. Faith is born in complete
darkness and grows toward an end which is hidden from sight. Faith lives on a
promise that perpetually guarantees hope, that tests realities not visible;
that is why there is no need to question anything, to ask for explanations nor
to demand guarantees. We only need to place our heart in God's hand as we take
each step. And nothing happens if during the journey we falter or fall. What is
truly important is to get ourselves up again. The principal indicator of a
mature faith is the ability to straighten our knees when we face adversity.
We can act according to the will of God if we empty
ourselves of ourselves and fill ourselves with Him and with his Word. Let us
open our ears to the Spirit, to listen in the midst of silence to the beating
of God's heart next to ours.
Prayer: O God, our God, today we pray like that man of the road,
"Help us to have more faith!" Amen.

Fe es la expectativa segura de las cosas que se
esperan,
la demostración evidente de realidades aunque no se
contemplen
Hebreos 11:1
La Biblia nos presenta a
Abraham como modelo de hombre de fe. Alguien a quien Dios dijo una vez: ¡Sal de
tu tierra! Y obedeciendo, se puso inmediatamente en camino.
“Salir de tu tierra”,
significa arrancar de raíz nuestra habitual manera de pensar y vivir, dejar
atrás los planes que creemos más importantes, nuestro pasado y todo cuanto
amarra nuestro cuerpo y espíritu para ir hacia fuera o hacia dentro de nosotros
mismos.
“Salir de tu tierra”
significa saltar por encima de cualquier convicción para morar en el desierto
de la duda. La fe nace en la más completa oscuridad y crece por un final que
percibe oculto.
La fe vive de una
promesa que garantiza perpetuamente la espera; que prueba realidades no
visibles, por eso no se necesita preguntar nada ni pedir explicaciones, ni
exigir garantías, solamente necesitamos poner el corazón en Dios al dar cada
paso. Y no ocurre nada si durante la marcha flaqueamos y caemos. Lo
verdaderamente importante es levantarnos nuevamente. El principal indicador de
una fe madura es poder enderezar las rodillas durante la adversidad.
Logramos obrar según la
voluntad de Dios, si nos vaciamos de nosotros mismos y nos llenamos de él y de
su Palabra. Abramos los oídos al Espíritu, para escuchar en medio del silencio,
los latidos del corazón de Dios junto al nuestro.
Oración: Oh Dios, hoy te pedimos como aquel hombre del
camino: “¡Ayúdanos a tener más fe!” Amén.
