WE  NEED PREPARATION

ISAIAH 40:1-5

 A voice is crying out: ‘Clear the Lord’s way in the desert!

 Make a level highway in the wilderness for our God!’

We don’t enjoy waiting. Instead we prefer everything the fastest way possible. Nevertheless, the time of Advent is an invitation to wait. It is as if God is asking us to not be in a hurry to receive his Son. And why the wait? Of course, like any other birth, one needs to prepare. We need to prepare our minds, freeing them from prejudices; we need to prepare our hearts, freeing them from hatred, bitterness, and petty interests; we need to prepare our hands to be open for sharing; we need to prepare our ears to hear God’s message.

We need to prepare our whole life to be ready to receive the Messiah and to follow him faithfully. This is something that should not be done on impulse or with frivolity. Let’s get involved in this Advent by wholeheartedly preparing ourselves. Let us cast aside the empty rituals and fill ourselves with the divine Spirit to receive the Son of God.

Prayer:  Loving God, may we, like the prophet Isaiah, understand the time given us to prepare ourselves and to prepare the world for your definitive arrival. Lord Jesus, may our waiting be an active preparation for your birth and our voice be a prophetic cry for your arrival. Amen.

NECESITAMOS PREPARACIÓN

ISAÍAS 40: 1-5

Voz que clama en el desierto: ¡Preparad un camino a Jehová; nivelad una calzada en la estepa a nuestro Dios!

Isaías 40:3

Esperar es algo que no nos gusta. Mas bien preferimos obtener todo por la vía más rápida. Sin embargo, el tiempo de Adviento es una invitación a esperar. Es como si Dios nos pidiera no apurarnos para recibir a su hijo. ¿Y por qué la espera? Por supuesto, como cualquier otro nacimiento, se necesita una preparación. Necesitamos preparar nuestras mentes, librarla de prejuicios, necesitamos preparar el corazón, liberarlo de odios y rencores e intereses mezquinos, necesitamos preparar nuestras manos para que estén bien abiertas para compartir, necesitamos preparar nuestros oídos para escuchar el mensaje de Dios.

Necesitamos preparar nuestra vida toda para que esté dispuesta a recibir al Mesías y seguirlo con fidelidad. Esto es algo que no se puede hacer por impulso o con frivolidad. Dispongámonos pues, en este Adviento a prepararnos de todo corazón. Dejemos a un lado los rituales vacíos y llenémonos del Espíritu divino para recibir al Hijo de Dios.

Oración: Amante Dios, que como el profeta Isaías podamos comprender el momento que nos ha tocado vivir para prepararnos y preparar al mundo para tu llegada definitiva. Señor Jesús, que nuestra espera sea una preparación activa para tu nacimiento y nuestra voz un grito profético por tu llegada. Amén.
