Anniversary of the Dependent Church  “Ebenezer” (Encrucijada)

ARE WE WILLING TO FIGHT?

Judges  4:1-7

Judges 5:2a

            Deborah was one of Israel’s prophets, and stood out among all the judges that governed the people chosen by God. She and Barak directed one of the most important battles of the time of the judges. They were simple people who completed a difficult mission and achieved the unity of the dispersed tribes. United, and confident of God’s promise, they confronted a powerful army.

            As believers, we are called to seek justice and love in our world. Our church undertakes actions to fulfill that evangelizing mission, but often only a small group feels committed to participate in that mission, while others limit themselves to take part in worship or another type of celebrated activity, but without much commitment.

            We should ask ourselves: Do we form part of that group that, in unity, shares the work of love and service, or are we of the passive group that attends just to listen?    

 

Prayer: Father, we ask your forgiveness because we forget that you need our words and actions for the work of evangelizing. Fill us with your Spirit to be together with those in your church who devote their time and abilities to that mission. Amen.

Aniversario de la Iglesia dependiente “Ebenezer” (Encrucijada)

¿DISPUESTOS A LUCHAR?

Jueces  4:1-7

Alaben todos al Señor porque aún en Israel hay hombres dispuestos a luchar.

Jueces 5:2a

            Débora fue una de las profetisas de Israel y se destaca entre todos los jueces que gobernaron al pueblo elegido por Dios. Ella y Barac dirigieron una de las batallas más importantes  del tiempo de los jueces. Eran personas sencillas, que llevaron a cabo una misión difícil y lograron la unidad de las tribus dispersas. Unidos, confiados en la promesa de Dios, se enfrentaron a un ejército poderoso.

            Nosotros, como creyentes, estamos llamados a buscar en nuestro mundo la justicia y el amor. Nuestra iglesia realiza acciones para cumplir esa misión evangelizadora, pero en muchas ocasiones sólo un pequeñño grupo se siente comprometido aparticipar de esa misión, mientras otros se limitan a participar del culto de adoración u otro tipo de actividad celebrativa pero sin mucho compromiso. Debemos preguntarnos: ¿Formamos parte activa de ese grupo que comparte en unidad la obra de amor y servicio? O ¿somos del grupo pasivo que acude solo a escuchar?

 

Oración: Padre, te pedimos perdón porque olvidamos que tú necesitas de nuestras palabras y acciones para la obra evangelizadora. Llénanos con tu Espíritu para estar junto a los que, en nuestra iglesia consagran su tiempo y capacidades para esa misión. Amén.
