SHINE WHERE YOU ARE

1 Thessalonians  5: 1-6

For you are all children of the light and children of the day; we are not of the night or pf darkness.

1 Thessalonians 5: 5 (NRSV)

I grew up at a time and in a social context where materialistic doctrine prevailed, and Christian children were often the victims of mockery and discrimination by some fellow students and teachers. Many stopped participating in the celebratory life of our church, but the most daring continued attending. In contrast to that reality, most of us were distinguished by academic qualities, talents, and results.

            However, most of the time we were unrecognized though because without wanting it, we showed how truth is always the way of light and life. In the midst of all this, we were never short of words of encouragement from family members and pastors if our faith faltered. In this way God’s purpose for our lives could flow, becoming good men and women by the grace of the Holy Spirit.

            Today we may have different challenges. Let us think that the Father wants joyful, diligent servants, enjoying the peace that the certainty of redemption and his love gives us.

 

 

Prayer: Beloved Father, let us never forget our divine provenance to shine by doing good for your glory. Amen.

BRILLA EN EL SITIO DONDE ESTÉS

1 Tesalonicenses  5: 1-6

 

Porque todos vosotros sois hijos de luz e hijos del día; no somos de la nocheni de las tinieblas.

1 Tesalonicenses 5: 5

            Crecí en una época y en un contexto social donde prevalecía una doctrina materialista y los niños y niñas cristianas muchas veces éramos víctimas de burlas y discriminaciones por algunos condiscípulos y maestros. Muchos dejaron de participar en la vida celebrativa de nuestra iglesia, pero los más osados seguimos asistiendo y en contraste con esa realidad, en su mayoría nos distinguíamos por las cualidades, talentos y resultados académicos.

            Sin embargo, la mayoría de las veces éramos poco reconocidos, aunque sin quererlo, demostrábamos como la verdad es siempre el camino de la luz y la vida. En medio de todo esto, nunca nos faltaban palabras de aliento de familiares y pastores si flanqueaba nuestra fe, y de esa forma se fue permitiendo que el propósito de Dios para nuestras vidas fluyera por la gracia del Espíritu Santo, convirtiéndonos en hombres y mujeres de bien.

 

            Hoy puede que tengamos retos diferentes, pensemos que el Padre quiere siervos gozosos, diligentes, gozando de la paz que la certeza de la redención y su amor nos da.

 

Oración: Padre amado, que nunca olvidemos nuestra procedencia divina para brillar haciendo lo bueno para tu gloria. Amén.
