THE ANNOUNCED VISIT

Matthew 25: 1-13

Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Matthew  25:13 (NRSV)

When someone tells us that they are coming to our house, we generally give special care to the actions that we normally take. We choose the best to receive the newcomer, put things in order, set aside time to attend to them, but generally our habits emerge, the things that we don’t always do well. If we are not plant lovers, even if we put out three vases with flowers, some disorder that we habitually overlook will sneak our from some nook.

It’s the same with faith; we should learn from a tender age that our daily conduct might reveal a good relationship with God, based in respect for his commandment of love. So, as his return has been announced, yes, it will be expected, but we will be prepeared. We will not have to wait for that moment, known but indefinite, to put our lives in order so as not to run the risk that when he arrives, he won’t recognize us.

Prayer: Lord, help us to transform our lives in order that we may, as your disciples, show your love to every human in every time and place, and be prepared for your arrival. Amen.

LA VISITA ANUNCIADA

Mateo 25: 1-13
