THE FINAL ENTRY
Matthew 21:6-9
For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.’
Matthew 23:39 (NRSV)
The Hour having arrived, Jesus decides to make his final entry into Jerusalem, and he does it in a way that is both carefully planned and spectacular. He, who had always been opposed to any public demonstration of praise, who had gone into hiding when the people wanted to proclaim him king, now accepts what some define as a triumphal entry, although he well knows that the the scenario he is about to live out has little triumph in it. He accepts being acclaimed as the awaited Messiah.
In that final entry, Jesus knows that the same people who are jubilantly acclaiming him will soon lead him to Calvary. The palms will become lashes, the olive branches thorns, the cheers and acclamations merciless taunts.
Already inside the city, Jesus couldn’t let his feelings run away with him expressing that deep pain which overwhelms him for the nation to whom he come to deliver the message of salvation: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it!” (Mt. 23:37) Even so, he has a certainty of life expressed in the text: you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.’
In that certainty. We as a church also wait until we can see the complete manifestation of the Kingdom manifest.
Prayer: Lord, help your Church to follow you in the midst of confrontation and not only in the praise of the crowd. Amen.

LA ULTIMA ENTRADA
Mateo 21:6-9
