CHRISTIAN OF A LONG JOURNEY 

1 Corinthians 15:10

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness…

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

“On our way to eternal life, it is not surprising that more than once it seems as if it were a long journey on which we encounter all the seasons of the year. At the beginning we meet spring. Just as the rains make the flowers sprout, the Christian in springtime is drenched with the rain of the Holy Spirit and enjoys communion with God. Later, with summer, everything is illuminated by the warm light of the sun. Then this summer believer feels the fire of God burning within him that leads him to share the Gospel and serve the Lord. But the journey continues, and by autumn the fuel has run out a bit, and with the neglect, the believer no longer prays as before or serves God with the same passion. The autumn Christian has turned his spiritual life into a routine; just as trees lose their withered leaves, this believer is falling into spiritual stagnation as he forgets his first love. Winter comes and by then the fuel is completely gone. The winter Christian has fallen by the wayside. His spiritual life and his life of service have frozen. 

Don’t be a seasonal Christian. The Christian life is to be upward; God has given us weapons to lift us up when we fall, spur us on when we stop, and encourage us not to give up. Whatever the season we go through, let us cling to Jesus. His grace is sufficient. God’s voice is within praying distance.”

 

Prayer: Jesus, I believe in you and all your promises. I love to know that I walk holding your hand and that you do not let go. Amen

CRISTIANO DE UN LARGO VIAJE

1 Corintios 15:10

Y me ha dicho: Bástate mi gracia, porque mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad…

2 Corintios 12:9a

“En nuestro camino hacia la vida eterna, no es de extrañar que más de una vez parezca como si se tratara de un largo viaje en cuyo recorrido nos topáramos con todas las estaciones del año. Al inicio nos hallamos con la primavera. Así como las lluvias hacen germinar las flores, el cristiano de primavera se empapa con la lluvia del Espíritu Santo y disfruta de la comunión con Dios. Más adelante, con el verano, todo se ilumina con la cálida luz del sol. Entonces este creyente de verano, siente arder en su interior el fuego de Dios que lo lleva a compartir el Evangelio y a servir al Señor. Pero el viaje continúa, y para el otoño el combustible se ha agotado un poco, y con el descuido, el creyente ya no ora como antes ni sirve a Dios con la misma pasión. El cristiano de otoño ha convertido su vida espiritual en una rutina; del mismo modo que los árboles pierden las hojas marchitas, este creyente va cayendo en un estancamiento espiritual al olvidar su primer amor. Llega el invierno y para entonces el combustible se ha acabado por completo. El cristiano de invierno se ha quedado tirado en el camino. Su vida espiritual y su vida de servicio se han congelado. 

No seas un cristiano de estaciones. La vida cristiana ha de ser ascendente, Dios nos ha dado armas para levantarnos al caer, impulsarnos al detenernos y animarnos para no rendirnos. Sea cual sea la estación que atravesemos, apeguémonos a Jesús. Su gracia es suficiente. La voz de Dios está a la distancia de una oración.”

 

Oración: Jesús, creo en ti y en todas tus promesas. Amo saber que camino tomada de tu mano y que no me sueltas. Amén.
