HE ISN’T THERE, HE LIVES!

Luke 24:1-6a

In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them Why do you look for the living among the dead?    (NIV)

Luke 24:5

The anguish of the night had passed, a group of Jesus’ faithful followers are preparing to go to the grave to anoint his body according to Judaic custom. Filled with anguish, they leave quite early, before sunrise. Their mission was like a posthumous tribute to the one they had followed for so much time and in whom they had deposited great hopes as the Messiah.

No one can imagine the resurrection event, not even those disciples who had received such teachings during Jesus’ life. Everything changes upon arriving at the tomb. What they found left them speechless with surprise: a stone removed and an empty tomb. What had happened?’ In an incorrect sense, we can ask ourselves, “Where had they put the body?” Or, in hope and expectation, we can assume the reality that the Lord had revived, as improbable as that may have seemed.

The message continues to be valid today: why look among the dead for him who lives? Why believe in a dead Christ when disbelief leaves us without answers? Why believe in a dead Christ and keep quiet instead of proclaiming and spreading the news? Let us celebrate a living Christ and prepare to serve him today more than ever.

 

Prayer: Our God, your power is not subject to anything. Make us capable of feeling this transforming force of your resurrection. In Jesus Christ we ask. Amen.

Domingo de Resurrección

¡NO ESTÁ AQUÍ. ÉL VIVE!

Lucas 24:1-6a

Llenas de miedo se inclinaron ocultando su rostro; pero ellos les dijeron: -¿por qué buscan entre los muertos al que vive?

Lc 24:5

La angustia de la noche ha pasado, un grupo de fieles seguidoras de Jesús se disponen a ir hasta el sepulcro para ungir su cuerpo conforme a las costumbres judías. Con angustia salen bien temprano, antes del amanecer, su misión era como un póstumo tributo a aquel a quien habían seguido por tanto tiempo y en quien habían depositado grandes esperanzas como Mesías.

Nadie puede imaginar el evento de la resurrección, ni siquiera aquellas discípulas que recibieron tales enseñanzas en vida de Jesús. Al llegar al lugar todo cambia. Lo que encuentran las deja mudas de asombro, una piedra removida y un sepulcro vacío ¿qué ha sucedido?

Podemos preguntarnos, en sentido equivocado, dónde han puesto el cuerpo, o podemos con esperanza y expectantes asumir la realidad de que el Señor ha resucitado, por inverosímil que parezca.

El mensaje sigue con vigencia hoy: ¿por qué buscar entre los muertos al que vive? Se cree en un Cristo muerto cuando la incredulidad nos deja sin respuestas. Se cree en un Cristo muerto cuando nos callamos en lugar de proclamar y esparcir la noticia. Celebremos a un Cristo vivo y dispongámonos a servirle hoy más que nunca.

 

Oración: Dios nuestro, tu poder no está sujeto a nada. Haznos capaces de sentir esa fuerza transformadora de tu resurrección. En Jesucristo te lo pedimos. Amén.
