FOLLOWING THE INDICATED PATH

John 17:18-26

I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word

Several years ago I assisted at the funeral service of a great friend of mine. He was over 90 years old, born and raised in a Christian home. He was an example of faith, loyalty, and service, both in the church as well as in the village where he lived. Such people are always thought of as examples of faithfulness.

Jesus prayed for his disciples, but also for those who would follow his teachings and would be models to follow. His life and witness contributed to the extension of the Reign of God in his time.

If we think about our lives, can we say that we are following the path that Jesus showed us? Are we models of Chirstian conduct, the mirror in which others would see themselves?

Let’s look within ourselves and, above all, seek God’s help to comply with his will.

 

Prayer: Lord, grant that our actions and thoughts might be an example of faith, loyalty, and service to you. May those around us see you in us. Amen.

SIGUIENDO EL CAMINO QUE INDICÓ

Juan 17:18-26

Mas ruego no solamente por éstos, sino por los que han de creer en mí por la palabra de ellos.

Hace algunos años asistí al culto fúnebre de un gran amigo mío. Tenía más de 90 años, nació y creció en un hogar cristiano. Fue ejemplo de fe, lealtad y servicio, tanto en la iglesia como en el poblado donde vivía. Siempre se piensa en esas personas como ejemplos de fidelidad.

Jesús oró por sus discípulos; pero también por los que seguirían sus enseñanzas y serían modelos a seguir. Su vida y testimonio contribuyó a la extensión del Reino de Dios en su tiempo.

Si meditamos en nuestra vida, ¿podremos decir que seguimos el camino que Jesús nos indicó? ¿Somos  modelo de conducta cristiana, el espejo en que  otros quisieran mirarse?

Miremos hacia nuestro interior y busquemos la respuesta; y sobre todo, busquemos la ayuda de Dios para cumplir con su voluntad.

 

Oración: Haz, Señor, que nuestras acciones y pensamientos sean ejemplo de fe, lealtad y servicio a ti. Permite que los demás te vean en nosotros. Amén.
