A DIFFICULT LIFE

Revelation 7:9-17

They will hunger no more and thirst no more; the sun will not strike them, nor any scorching heat…

The Christian life is not an easy life. It is a difficult but glorious life. Glorious because of the goal that it pursues, glorious because of the path it undertakes, glorious because of the struggle that must be sustained in order to reach the goal. The road ahead is strewn with obstacles, with trials and temptations. They are obstacles that, with the help of God, we can face. They are trials that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome without giving in. They are temptations that, with the power and the wisdom of Jesus, we can resist without wavering and without falling.

And, once having endured the temptation with grace and resisted the trials victoriously, we will be blessed and enjoy the reward promised by the Father to those who love him: a crown of Life, that will be the ineffable joy of living in this life accompanied by Christ, and in the next life, the unparalleled happiness of living eternally in his presence in the Kingdom of Heaven.

 

Prayer: Loving Father, I love you and trust in your promise of the crown of life. I want, Lord, to be blessed by overcoming temptations. And I try, but I know that without your support in the struggle, I am lost. Amen.

UNA VIDA DIFÍCIL

Apocalipsis 7:9-17

Ya no tendrán hambre, ni sed; y el sol no caerá más sobre ellos, ni calor alguno…

Apocalipsis 7:16

La vida cristiana no es una vida fácil. Es una vida difícil pero gloriosa. Gloriosa por el objetivo que persigue, gloriosa por el camino que se emprende, gloriosa por la lucha que hay que sostener para alcanzar la meta. El camino a recorrer está sembrado de obstáculos, de pruebas y tentaciones. Son obstáculos que, con la ayuda del Señor, podemos enfrentar. Son pruebas que, con el auxilio del Espíritu Santo, podemos vencer sin claudicaciones. Son tentaciones que, con el poder y la sabiduría de Jesús, podemos resistir sin desviarnos y sin caernos.

Y una vez soportada la tentación airosamente y resistida la prueba victoriosamente, seremos bienaventurados y disfrutaremos de la recompensa prometida por el Padre a los que le aman: una corona de Vida, que será el gozo inefable de vivir en esta vida acompañados espiritualmente de Cristo y en la otra la felicidad inédita de vivir eternamente en su presencia en el Reino de los Cielos.

 

Oración: Padre amante, yo te amo y confío en tu promesa de la corona de la vida. Yo quiero, Señor, ser bienaventurada venciendo las tentaciones. Y me esfuerzo, pero sé que sin tu sostén en la lucha, estoy perdida. Amén.
