A PERFECT IMAGE

Mark 10:17-22

Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said, “Go sell everything you have and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. The come follow me.”   (NIV)

At times we go through many days without looking in the mirror. We prepare ourselves; we arrange our hair with our hands. This often happens because of the haste that overwhelms us, or because of comfort and laziness. But it is important to approach the mirror honestly.

The day we don’t do it, we live with the image of ourselves that we remember, one that suits us better. Thus, automatically, we reaffirm the good and educated people that we are.

We make some mistakes! Who doesn’t? But at the same time we turn a blind eye, so as not to see anything that could harm someone; In this time of pandemic, we take care of ourselves correctly, we are disciplined, so we also protect others.

Now, we lose sight of the other, and the other is out of Jesus’ proposal. He turns us into someone similar to that rich young man who recounts the biblical text.

The question we have to ask ourselves before the mirror would be: What can we do (share) to help those who need it most? It’s different when we look at ourselves and get a complete and updated picture that allows us to see what we can do today.

 

Prayer: God, may we see ourselves in Jesus, our best mirror, and let us live in collaboration. Amen.

UNA IMAGEN PERFECTA

Marcos 10:17-22

Jesús, mirándolo, lo amó y le dijo: “Una cosa te falta: ve y vende cuanto tienes y da a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; entonces vienes y me sigues.”

Marcos 10:21

A veces pasamos muchos días sin mirarnos al espejo. Nos preparamos, acomodamos el pelo con las manos. Sucede muchas veces por la premura que nos agobia, o por comodidad y holgazanería. Pero es importante acercarnos con honestidad al espejo.

El día que no lo hacemos, lo vivimos con la imagen nuestra que recordamos nos sienta mejor. Así, automáticamente, reafirmamos las buenas y educadas personas que somos ¡Que cometemos algunos errores! ¿Quién no? Pero nos hacemos los ciegos para no ver nada que pueda perjudicarnos a alguien; en este tiempo de pandemia nos cuidamos correctamente, somos disciplinados, así protegemos también a los demás.

Ahora, perder de vista al otro y la otra está fuera de la propuesta de Jesús. Nos convierte en alguien parecido a ese joven rico que relata el texto bíblico.

La pregunta que tenemos que hacernos ante el espejo sería: ¿Qué podemos hacer (compartir) para ayudar a quien más lo necesita? Es diferente cuando nos miramos y obtenemos una imagen completa y actualizada que nos permite ver lo que podemos hacer hoy.

 

Oración: Permite Dios que nos miremos en Jesús, nuestro mejor espejo, y podamos vivir colaborando. Amén.
