Genesis 18: 1-15

Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Have we ever received a piece of news that caused us to laugh in disbelief? Well, that’s how  it was with Sarah in this text, and also with Abraham in the previous chapter.

In Old Testament times it was considered a divine curse if a woman could not give offspring to her husband. It was known that an old woman like Sarah had no chance. However, for God everything is possible. So, if he gives us a piece of news, no matter how absurd it may seem to us, let us not return a laugh of disbelief, but let us have great faith. God in his sovereignty always disposes, and so we must act in response to that assurance. If we are going to laugh, let it be of joy, acceptance and gratitude in the face of the unexpected

Let’s make room for life’s surprises. Let’s always keep in mind that we cannot limit God. He moves and acts freely. Everything is possible for him.

 

Prayer: God of goodness, you surprise us with your gifts. Allow us never to lose the ability to hope in you. You allow us to smile at you with happiness. May your Spirit always move in us. Amen.

REGALOS  de DIOS

Génesis 18: 1-15

¿Hay acaso algo tan difícil que Dios no pueda hacerlo?

Génesis 18:14

¿Alguna vez hemos recibido una noticia en la que la incredulidad nos ha provocado risa? Pues así sucedió con Sara en este texto, y también con Abraham en el capítulo anterior.

En tiempos del Primer Testamento se consideraba una maldición divina si una mujer no podía darle descendencia a su esposo. Era sabido que una mujer ya anciana como Sara, no tenía ninguna posibilidad. Sin embargo, para Dios todo es posible. Así que, si nos da una noticia, por muy absurda que nos parezca, no le devolvamos una risa de incredulidad, sino tengamos una gran fe. Dios en su soberanía siempre dispone, y por eso debemos actuar en respuesta a esa seguridad. Si vamos a reír que sea de alegría, aceptación y gratitud ante lo inesperado.

Démosle espacio a las sorpresas de la vida. Tengamos siempre en cuenta que a Dios no podemos limitarle. Se mueve y actúa libremente. Todo le es posible.

 

Oración: Dios de bondad, tú que nos sorprendes con tus regalos, permite que nunca perdamos la capacidad de esperar en ti. Permite que podamos sonreírte de felicidad. Que tu Espíritu se mueva siempre en nosotros. Amén.
