Blessing, Sharing

MATTHEW 14: 13-21

In the face of the most common and cold reasoning of the disciples, we find the logic of Jesus: different, full of sensitivity.

In the face of the disciples’ quick and comfortable solution, we find the humanity, the healing compassion of Jesus, the creativity in the search for alternatives to satisfy hunger.

In the words of the disciples, in their request to send the people out to find their food, we find an individualistic and petty offer.  In the words and gestures of Jesus, we find mercy, generosity and we receive blessing.

Jesus breaks five loaves and two fish. The sum is seven, a number that in Biblical symbolism signifies completeness, what is finished what is enough, what is sufficient

In the midst of human needs, calculating logics, interests, individual privileges and the situation of our world, it becomes urgent to receive and share a special blessing from God, that which is completed and becomes sufficient in the sum, in the proposal of sharing that Jesus brings.

 

Prayer: Jesus, help us to respond to your call to share our bread, to put out our hands, our hearts and lives in the service to those around us, to extend your blessing in the world. Amen

Bendecir, compartir

Frente al más común y frío razonamiento de los  discípulos, encontramos la lógica de Jesús: diferente, llena  de sensibilidad.

Frente a la solución rápida y cómoda de los discípulos,  encontramos la humanidad, la compasión sanadora de  Jesús, la creatividad en la búsqueda de alternativas para  saciar el hambre.

En las palabras de los discípulos,  en su petición de  despedir  a  la  gente  para  busquen  su  alimento,  encontramos un ofrecimiento individualista y mezquino.  En  las  palabras  y  gestos  de  Jesús,  encontramos  misericordia, generosidad y recibimos bendición.

Jesús parte cinco panes y dos peces. La suma es siete, un  número que en la simbología bíblica significa la totalidad, lo  acabado,  lo  suficiente,  lo  que alcanza.

En medio de las necesidades  humanas,  las  lógicas  calculadoras, los intereses, privilegios individuales y la  situación de nuestro mundo, se hace urgente, recibir y  compartir una bendición  especial  de  Dios,  aquella que se  completa y se hace suficiente en el sumar, en la propuesta  del compartir que trae Jesús.

 

Oración: Jesús, ayúdanos a  responder  a tu llamado, a  compartir nuestro pan, a poner nuestras manos, nuestros  corazones y nuestras vidas en el servicio a quienes nos  rodean para ensanchar tu bendición en el mundo. Amén.
