Keep Jesus Close to you

Matthew 14: 22-36

“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus..

There are situations that come into our lives without warning, without having crossed our minds. Very happy moments, unexpected, and others a bit complicated. Sometimes we react with selfish attitudes and we try to shelter in a corner, or embarking in another direction, where we are supported and reinforce our decision, where there are no strong winds. There we find  peaceful tranquility, but the floor is still wet, and the comfort zone becomes small. Then, when the wind picks up, we are filled with fear, our sight becomes cloudy, we see the lightning in the sky and with it, some ghost.

Confidence and courage return to us when we hear the friendly voice of one who extends his hand in the midst of the storm. Then we throw ourselves into the encounter with determination, with all our burdens, we jump into the sea, like Peter.

Lord, save me, said Peter in his distress, Jesus took him safely into the boat, and calm came over the whole place.

 

Prayer: Beloved Lord, never be absent from our boat, help us to recognize when we fail in our attitudes and to count on you always. Amen.

A Jesús tenlo cerca

Mateo 14: 22-36

Y él dijo: Ven. Y descendiendo Pedro de la barca, andaba  sobre las aguas para ir a Jesús.

Hay  situaciones que llegan a nuestra vida sin avisar, sin  que nos hayan pasado por la mente. Momentos muy  felices, inesperados, y otros un tanto complicados. A veces  reaccionamos  con  actitudes  egoístas  y pretendemos  resguardarnos en un rincón, o embarcándonos en otra  dirección, donde nos apoyen y refuercen nuestra decisión,  donde no existen vientos fuertes. Alli encontramos una  tranquilidad apacible, pero el piso sigue mojado, y la zona  confortable se vuelve pequeña. Entonces cuando el viento  arrecia, nos llenamos de temor, nuestra  vista  se nubla,  vemos los relámpagos en el cielo y con ellos, algún  fantasma.

La confianza y el valor regresan a nosotros cuando  escuchamos la voz amiga de uno  que  extiende  su mano en  medio de la tormenta, ahí nos lanzamos al encuentro con  decisión, con todas nuestras cargas, saltamos al mar, como  Pedro.

Señor, sálvame dijo Pedro en  su  angustia, Jesús lo llevo a  salvo a la barca, y la  calma  sobrevino en todo el lugar.

 

Oración: Amado Señor, nunca faltes en nuestra barca,  ayúdanos  a  reconocer  cuando  fallamos  en nuestras  actitudes y a contar contigo siempre. Amén.
