Talking with God

Genesis 15:1-6

…”Look up at the sky and count the stars –if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”.

As a child my grandmother always insisted that I pray before going to bed;. When I told her that I didn't know how to pray, she told me to pray with my words, from my heart, but not to stop talking to God.

After many years I understand my grandmother's insistence that prayer, while connecting  us with God and  to our own faith, saves us and sustains our hope in God’s promises, however unheard of they may seem to us, for our lives.

In the text, Abraham’s faith is based on a great promise. In order to believe this promise and to be affirmed in it, it was necessary for the patriarch to be able to talk to God, to complain.

The text invites us to speak to God about our whole life, our feelings, our doubts, even our worries, but always with a definite intention: to wait for the divine answer, to listen to it and to affirm our life in it, in the midst of the circumstances that surround us.

 

Prayer: Thank you Lord for answering our prayers and sustaining our hope. Amen

Hablemos con Dios

Génesis 15:1-6

..mira bien el cielo y cuenta las estrellas, si es que puedes  contarlas. Pues  ass  será el número de tus descendientes.

Génesis 15: 6

De niña mi abuela siempre me insistsa para orar antes de  acostarme; cuando le comentaba que no sabsa orar, me  respondsa que  lo  hiciera con mis palabras,  desde el  corazón; pero que no dejara de hablarle a  Dios.

Después de muchos años comprends la insistencia de mi  abuela, la oración, al tiempo que nos encuentra con  Dios y  nos conecta con nuestra propia fe, nos salva y sostiene  nuestra esperanza en las promesas, por muy inauditas que  nos parezcan, de  Dios para nuestras vidas .

En el texto, la fe de Abraham, está basada en una gran  promesa. Para poder creer  esta  promesa y afirmarse en  ella, fue necesario  que  el patriarca pudiera contarle a Dios,  quejarse.

El texto nos invita a hablarle a  Dios  de toda nuestra vida,  de nuestros sentimientos, de nuestras dudas, incluso de  nuestras preocupaciones, pero siempre con una intención  definida: esperar la respuesta divina, escucharla y afirmar  nuestra vida en ella, en medio de las circunstancias que  nos rodean.

 

Oración: Gracias Señor por contestar nuestras oraciones y  por sustentar nuestra esperanza. Amén
