INTERNATIONAL MEN’S DAY

PARALYZING FEAR

Matthew 25:14-30

But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

Matthew 25:18 (NIV)

Many interpretations have been derived from this parable of the talents. And today, I will stick with one of the teachings that I consider of value among so many wise words: “Fear is a paralyzing emotion.”

It is explicit in this passage that it was fear of his master that paralyzed the last servant and led him to bury the talent (money) that had remained in his safekeeping.

How many times does fear decide the course to follow? The terror of not meeting social and family expectations causes us to make decisions that are opposite of our desires. We judge and censor ourselves, we bury that which we possess of value, without realizing that it is in the light where that which we are should be. God gives us valuable treasures: compassion, love, hope and humility… none of them is to be hidden, all of them are to be shared and multiplied. Let us not be afraid to let others down. Our God will always be proud of us as long as our actions produce good, and we multiply His love.

 

Prayer:  God of hope may my acts of love be multiplied. Amen.

EL MIEDO PARALIZA

Mateo 25:14-30

En cambio, el que recibió un talento hizo un hoyo en la tierra y escondió el dinero de su señor.

Mateo 25:18

Muchas interpretaciones se han derivado de esta parábola de los talentos. Y en este dia, me quedo con una de las enseñanzas que considero de valor entre tantas sabias palabras: El miedo es una emoción paralizadora˝.

Queda explicito en este pasaje que fue el miedo a su señor lo que paralizó al último siervo, y le llevó a enterrar el talento (dinero) que se habia quedado a su resguardo.

¿Cuántas veces el miedo decide el rumbo a seguir? El terror a no cumplir con las expectativas sociales, familiares, hace que tomemos decisiones que son opuestas a nuestro deseo. Nos juzgamos y autocensuramos, enterramos aquello de valor que poseemos, sin darnos cuenta que es en la luz donde debe estar aquello que somos. Dios nos regala tesoros valiosos: la compasión, el amor, la esperanza, la humildad... ninguno de ellos es para esconder, todos son para compartir y multiplicar. No sintamos miedo a defraudar a otros, ahi estará nuestro Dios orgulloso siempre que produzcan nuestras acciones el bien, y multipliquemos su amor.

 

Oración: Dios de la esperanza, que se multipliquen mis actos de amor, Amén.
