DO WE TRUST?

John 14: 1-6

And you know the way to the place where I am going.

John 14: 4 (NRSV)

How difficult it must have been for Jesus to see the time of being among his disciples coming to an end and their not being able to know him fully, in spite of all the teachings given, the miracles and healings performed! Neither could they understand that he had to end his work. For their part, the disciples are not resigned to continue without their Master nor do they understand what he is telling them or why they cannot go where he is going.

The same thing happens to us when we confront various difficult situations in our lives, or in our communities of faith, or in our country; we forget all the teachings, promises and sacrifices which occurred for us, and we feel that the Lord has abandoned us. Nevertheless, as his dissciples, He comforts us and asks us to trust in God and in Him because he promised to be with us always.

The only thing that assures us is that, to go to meet him, there is only one way that we already know.

And what about us? Do we follow his way, or do we seek other paths?

 

Prayer: Help us, Lord, to walk the path that leads us in truth to the fullness of life. Amen.

¿CONFIAMOS?

John 14: 1-6

Ustedes ya conocen el camino para ir adonde yo voy.

Juan 14: 4

¡Qué difícil debe haber sido para Jesús ver que se acaba el tiempo de estar entre sus discípulos y éstos no logran conocerlo a plenitud, a pesar de todas las enseñanzas impartidas, los milagros y curaciones efectuados! Tampoco pueden entender que Él tiene que concluir su misión. Por su parte los discípulos no se resignan a quedarse sin su Maestro, no entienden aún lo que les dice ni por qué no pueden ir a donde va.

Lo mismo nos sucede a nosotros cuando enfrentamos algunas situaciones difíciles de nuestras vidas, o en nuestras comunidades de fe, o en nuestro país; nos olvidamos de todas las enseñanzas, promesas y sacrificios que realizó por nosotros; y sentimos como que el Señor nos ha abandonado. Sin embargo, como a sus discípulos, Él nos consuela y nos pide que confiemos en Dios y también en Él, porque prometió que siempre estaremos juntos.

Lo único que nos asegura es que, para ir a su encuentro, solo hay un camino que ya conocemos.

Y nosotros: ¿Vamos por su camino o buscamos veredas?

 

Oración: Ayúdanos Señor a transitar el camino, que nos guíe en verdad hacia la vida plena. Amén.
