THE CHURCH OF GOD

Luke 19:45-48

“It is written,” … “‘My house will be a house of prayer’; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”

When I was a girl, I saw the Church as a place where I was protected from evil.

During this time, evil was, to be denied a toy by another child, to be shouted at, to be made to feel less because I was small…but within the walls of the church none of that was possible, because there they spoke of love, fraternity, and family.

The life experiences that followed as I grew up shattered the globe of perfection that surrounded my idealized church. Reality, on more than one occasion, struck me with acts of egotism, of fundamentalism, of a lack of humility, of imposition of one opinion over others, of supposed hierarchies. And I discovered that experiences like these could also cross our ecclesiastical spaces. Faced with this we have three options: to be indifferent, to let ourselves be carried away and fall into the cycle of enmity, or to confront it by insisting on building a church that defends the true values of love of the Kingdom of God.

At this crossroads, this text is like an anchor. It invites us not only to announce the problems, but also to work diligently to change them… Jesus not only confronted those who had bad practices in the temple, but also as the Gospel says, he remained every day teaching and sharing his message.

Let us lift our voices against the discord that divides us and work diligently so that our Churches may be more and more the houses of prayer that Jesus taught us.

 

Prayer: God, may we see life through love. May your Church grow through love. Amen.

LA IGLESIA DE DIOS

Lucas 19:45-48

Escrito está: "Mi casa es casa de oración"; pero vosotros la habéis convertido en una "cueva de bandidos."

Lucas 19:46

Cuando era niña vela la Iglesia como un lugar donde estaba protegida de la maldad.

En ese tiempo, la maldad era que otro niño me negara un juguete, que me gritaran, que me hicieran sentir menos por ser pequeña... Pero dentro de las paredes del templo nada de eso era posible, porque ahl se hablaba de amor, de fraternidad, de familia.

Las vivencias que se sucedieron posteriormente durante el crecimiento rompieron el globo de perfección que rodeaba mi iglesia idealizada. La realidad, en más de una ocasión, me golpeó con actos de ego lsmo, de fundamentalismos, de falta de humildad, de imposición de una opinión sobre otras, de supuestas jerarqulas. Y descubrl que experiencias como esas también pueden atravesar nuestros espacios eclesiales. Ante esto tenemos 3 opciones: ser indiferentes, dejarnos llevar y caer en el ciclo de enemistades, o hacerle frente insistiendo en la construcción de una iglesia que defienda los verdaderos valores de amor del Reino de Dios.

Ante esa encrucijada este texto es como un ancla, nos invita no solo a anunciar los problemas, sino también al permanente trabajo para cambiarlos... Jesús no sólo se enfrentó a quienes tenlan malas prácticas en el templo, sino que como dice el Evangelio, permaneció           todos los días enseñando y compartiendo su mensaje.

Alcemos la voz ante las discordias que nos dividen, y trabajemos permanentemente para que nuestras Iglesias sean cada vez más esas casas de oración familiar, que nos enseñó Jesús.

 

Oración: Dios, que veamos la vida a través del amor. Que crezca tu Iglesia a través del amor. Amén.
