MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20th

HEALTHY FAITH

Luke 18: 35-43

 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him (…) Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”

It never ceases to surprise how in most passage of Jesus’ life there is a permanent dialogue with people who are discriminated against, neglected, and who live on the margins of society.

In the midst of the crowd, Jesus hears a voice and stops. This plea of the blind man is no coincidence. It was not part of his daily routine to exchange any words, because for all the people he was a sinner; his blindness made him invisible. But, knowing who he was, the blind man banished the silence and rose above the voices that tried to silence him. There, in that cry, was where the miracle was born.

The blind man trusted in the testimony that preceded Jesus and had faith that he was a human being, a human being who would listen to his needs and treat him as an equal. Your faith has cured you, said Jesus, and today it will be a miracle as many times as we are able to stop the march to listen to others, we will be heard whenever we raise our voice to claim God’s intercession, because in that cry of the needy, there is the faith that produces the miracle.

 

Prayer: Good God, strengthen my faith and allow me to be attentive to my neighbor’s needs. Amen.

LA FE SANA

Lucas 18: 35-43

Jesús se paró y mandó que se lo trajeran (...) Jesús le contestó: ``Recobra la vista, tu fe te ha curado˝.

Lucas 18: 40a, 42

No deja de sorprender cómo en la mayoría de los pasajes de la vida de Jesús hay un diálogo permanente con personas que son discriminadas, ninguneadas, que viven al margen de la sociedad.

Entre tanta multitud que siguió de largo, Jesús escucha una voz, y se detiene. Esta súplica del ciego no es casualidad, no era parte de su cotidiano intercambiar palabra alguna, pues para toda la gente era un pecador, su ceguera le hacía invisible. Pero al saber de quién se trataba, el ciego desterró el silencio y se alzó por encima de las voces que pretendían silenciarlo. Ahí, en ese grito, fue donde nació aquel milagro.

El ciego confió en el testimonio que precedía a Jesús y tuvo fe en que era un ser humano, un ser humano que iba a escuchar sus necesidades y tratarlo como a un igual. Tu fe te ha curado dijo Jesús, y hoy, será milagro todas las veces que seamos capaces de detener la marcha para escuchar a otras y otros, seremos escuchados siempre que alcemos la voz para reclamar la intercesión de            Dios, porque en ese grito del necesitado, está la fe que produce el milagro.

 

Oración: Dios bueno, fortalece mi fe y permíteme caminar atenta para escuchar las necesidades de mi prójimo. Amén.
