LIFE:
AN ETERNAL OPPORTUNITY
ECCLESIASTES 12: 9-14
The wise man’s words
are like spurs. Ecclesiastes 12: 1
“One fine day, after so many mistakes and failures, I decided to
change.” This was a father’s comment to his adolescent son who was listening
attentively to the troubled story of his father’s early years.
“How did you manage that Papa?” asked the son.
“Simple, my son, I decided not to wait for opportunities, but to
go searching for them. I decided to view each problem as an opportunity to find
a solution. I decided to see each desert as an opportunity to see an oasis. I
decided to view each day as a new opportunity to be happy. I learned that the
greatest triumph I could have is to have the right to call someone friend. That day I ceased being a
reflection of my few past triumphs and began to be my own tenuous light in the
present. I learned it’s worthless to be light if you aren’t going to illuminate
another’s way.”
We should show our sons and daughters that they have the option
to create a positive world full of opportunities. So let’s help them to learn
to construct their happiness creatively, to enjoy, to love.
Prayer: Help us God that we may
be light and guides in our homes so that our sons and daughters discover the
small things that bring joy to life and fill their existence with meaning. Amen.

Las palabras de los sabios
son como aguijones…
Eclesiastés 12:11
“Un buen día después de tanto
equivocarme y fracasar; decidí cambiar.” Le comenta un padre a su hijo
adolecente, que le escuchaba atentamente la historia de su conturbada vida
juvenil. “¿Y cómo lo lograste, Papá?” “Sencillo, hijo mío; decidí no esperar
las oportunidades, sino yo mismo salir a buscarlas. Decidí ver cada problema
como una oportunidad para encontrar la solución. Decidí ver cada desierto como
una oportunidad de ver un oasis. Decidí ver cada día como una nueva oportunidad
de ser feliz. Aprendí que el mayor triunfo que puedo tener es tener el derecho
de poder llamar a alguien amigo. Aquel día dejé de ser un reflejo de mis
escasos triunfos pasados, y empecé a ser
mi propia luz tenue del presente. Aprendí que de nada sirve ser luz si no vas a
iluminar el camino de los demás.”
Debemos mostrarles a
nuestras hijas e hijos que tienen la opción de vivir un mundo positivo lleno de
oportunidades, ayudémoslos a que aprendan a construir creativamente su
felicidad, a disfrutar y amar.
Oración: Ayúdanos Dios, a que
podamos ser luz y guía en nuestros hogares para que nuestras/os hijos e
hijas descubran las pequeñas cosas que
alegran la vida y llenan de sentido su existencia. Amén
