World Day of Prayer
LET THEM COME TO ME
MARK 10:13-16
“But
when Jesus saw this he was indignant and said to them, let the little children
come to me, do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of
God belongs.”
Mark 10:14
Today, in many countries, the World Day of
Prayer is celebrated, a day that I call a profound experience of prayer and
intercultural learning. This year it is our country’s job to present all the
biblical, liturgical, and contextual material. And this text is precisely the
subject of the conference.
Childhood has always been dealt with in a
special way in our country, with diverse social assistance and educational
programs. Nevertheless, can we feel satisfied in our country with what Jesus
expects of us in relation to childhood? Do we truly bring our children to an
authentic encounter with Jesus? It’s not
only a matter of taking them to church, although at times we leave them at home
so that we can have a “tranquil service without interruptions.” I’m referring moreover to our testimony. Do
the children come to Jesus through our words and actions?
This is a day to pray for the children of
our country and throughout the world. It’s a day to pray to follow Jesus’
exhortation: Let the little children come to me and do not impede them.
Prayer: Just God, we pray that the
children in our country may continue to enjoy a quality education; this we ask
for the children the world over. Oh Lord, give us the wisdom to bring all the
children to you. Amen.

DEJAD QUE VENGAN A MÍ
MARCOS 10:13-16
“Viéndolo Jesús, se indignó, y les dijo: Dejad
a los niños venir a mi, y no se lo impidáis; porque de los tales es el reino de
Dios”

En muchos países se celebra hoy el Día Mundial de Oración, lo que yo
llamo una profunda experiencia de oración y aprendizaje intercultural. Este año
le corresponde a nuestro país presentar todo el material bíblico, litúrgico y
de contexto. Y precisamente este texto es el tema del encuentro. La niñez
siempre ha sido atendida de manera especial en nuestro país con diversos
programas de ayuda social y de educación. Sin embargo, ¿podremos sentirnos
satisfechos con lo que espera Jesús de nosotros en relación a la niñez en
nuestro país? ¿Verdaderamente llevamos a nuestras niñas y a nuestros niños a
tener un encuentro auténtico con Jesús? No se trata solo de llevarlos a la
Iglesia, aunque también, pues a veces los dejamos en casa para poder tener un
culto “tranquilo, sin interrupciones”. Me refiero además a nuestro testimonio
¿Ven los niños y las niñas a Jesús a través de nuestras palabras y acciones?
Este es un día para orar por la niñez en nuestro país y en todo el mundo. Es un
día para orar porque sigamos la exhortación de Jesús: Dejen que los niños
vengan a mí y no se lo impidan.
Oración: Dios justo, te pedimos
por la niñez en nuestro país, que continúen gozando de una educación de
calidad, te pedimos por la niñez en todo el mundo. Oh Señor, danos sabiduría
para acercar a los niños y a las niñas a ti. Amén
