Sunday, March 13 THE HAPPINESS OF BEING AT HOME PSALM 84

Sunday, March 13
THE HAPPINESS OF BEING AT HOME
PSALM 84

“For a day in your atrium
is better than a thousand elsewhere.”
Psalm 84:10

It´s Sunday, I wanted to stay in bed longer, get up later. Laziness overcame me and I didn´t even want to leave the house. After a week full of work and responsibilities it seemed better to stay in front of the television or listen to music. Nevertheless, something drove me and I left. The miracle happened upon my arrival at church, with the smile of my friend Carmen, now so elderly but so full of life. Then there was the praise of the children, the pastor´s sermon, the prayers offered up to God with so many reasons for gratitude and intercession, and in the praise of the children´s musical group, which came from the heart…How was I able to consider missing such a marvelous experience?  Our faith is lived and fortified in community.

I returned home full on energy to confront the week, with a strengthened faith, and with the desire to be the hands of God within this world in such need of his limitless love. It’s really marvelous to be in the House of God, enjoying those faith experiences. Upon laying my head on my pillow Sunday night, I ended up exclaiming, together with the psalmist: “Better a day in your atrium than a thousand elsewhere.”

Prayer:  Thank you Lord for calling me and drawing me out of my lethargy; to know you and to live a transformed life. And thank you for the gifts you’ve given me to serve you and share in community. Thank you because each Sunday I can go to your temple to hear your Word, to praise your name and live in communion, together with my sisters and brothers in faith. Amen.
