I GO AHEAD OF YOU
MATTHEW 28:7
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”
Matthew 28:19
There are
many Christians who feel confused and perplexed about the duty to evangelize,
and who forget the importance they have in proclaiming the Gospel. In today’s
reading and meditation we see how the Lord is our director, and throughout the
Scriptures and history we have examples of this reality. In the case of the men and women who were his
disciples, after the resurrection, “He
went ahead of them”. He did likewise
with Paul on the road to Damascus and prepared the conditions with Ananias, the
means used in order to help Paul. He
went ahead of Philip, with the eunuch on the road to Gaza. And we also find
innumerable examples where the Lord has always gone ahead of us.
At present
we find ourselves before the prevailing unbelief in the world; but as in
earlier times, in spite of negative situations, He continues to go ahead of us,
preparing the ground that we need to tread. Under this promise, the Church
feels comforted and reassured in the realization of the entrusted work. God’s
designs will be achieved in the world, through human beings themselves, and we
don’t need to understand them, we only need to obey and serve: “He goes ahead of us…”
“And
surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” If Christ
is with us, everything will go well. It
is up to us to assume the responsibility to bear witness, trusting in his help.
We should sow and then leave the results up to the Lord; He will gather the
harvest.
Prayer: Lord, we ask that, in the midst of indifference among modern day humans,
all Christians may be witnesses to our faith in you. Amen.
HE AQUÍ VA DELANTE DE VOSOTROS
MATEO 28:7
“Id y haced discípulos a todas las naciones”
Mateo 28:19
Muchos cristianos que de una manera u otra tienen la tarea de evangelizar,
se sienten confundidos y perplejos y se olvidan de la importancia que tienen en
la proclamación del Evangelio. En la lectura que ocupa nuestra meditación vemos
como el Señor es nuestro director, y a través de las Escrituras y de la
historia tenemos ejemplo de esta realidad. En el caso de los discípulos y las
discípulas, después de la resurrección, “Él fue delante de ellos”.
Asimismo hizo con Pablo en el camino de Damasco y preparó las condiciones con
Ananías, el medio usado para ayudar a Pablo. Fue delante de Felipe, con el
eunuco en el camino a Gaza. Y así encontramos innumerables ejemplos donde el
Señor siempre ha ido delante.
Actualmente nos enfrentamos ante la incredulidad imperante en el mundo;
pero como en tiempos anteriores, a pesar de las situaciones negativas, Él sigue
delante, preparando el terreno que habremos de pisar. Bajo esta promesa, la
Iglesia se siente confortada y segura en la realización de la labor
encomendada. Los designios de Dios se cumplirán en el mundo, a través del ser
humano mismo, y no nos toca a nosotros comprenderlos, sino solamente obedecer y
servir: “El va delante de nosotros…”
“He aquí yo estoy con vosotros todos los días hasta
el fin del mundo”. Si
Cristo está con nosotros, todo marchará bien. Nuestro deber es asumir la
responsabilidad de testificar, confiados en su ayuda. Debemos sembrar, y dejar
el resultado al Señor; que Él recogerá la cosecha.
Oración: Señor, te pedimos que en medio de la indiferencia del ser
humano moderno, todos los cristianos seamos testigos de nuestra fe en ti. Amén.
