TO BE BORN AGAIN
JOHN 3:3-5
"I tell you the truth, no one can enter
the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.”
John 3: 5
Jesus assures us that we can neither see nor enter the Kingdom of God
without having been born again. This truth is often not understood -- at times
not even by those who frequently attend church. A new birth is no more than
displacing our personal priorities and putting God’s priorities in their proper
place. Jesus’ proposal to Nicodemus was very difficult to understand and he
interpreted it literally.
Today we ought to interpret this phrase more appropriately. We need to be
born again in order to forgive as children do; we need to be born again in
order to recover the prophetic meaning of our lives, neutralizing apathy and
insensitivity. We must be born again to rethink the goals and dreams of our
existence because many times we have simply unthinkingly inherited what we want
or what we have set as a priority.
That Nicodemus came to Jesus at night symbolizes a period of crisis in
his life. Our dark nights can come at any time. No one is exempt from problems
in this world, and it is on such occasions that we are more dependent on God
and need “a clean slate,” a new beginning which leaves behind our preconceived
hopes.
It is not in vain that Jesus speaks of “being born of water and the
Spirit” – both dynamic elements which propel our daily work.
Prayer: Dear Lord
Jesus, show me the way of your Kingdom; let me be born again. We pray in your
name. Amen.

NACER DE NUEVO
JUAN 3:3-5

no naciere de nuevo,
no puede ver el reino de
Dios…”
Juan 3:5
Jesús afirma que no podemos ver el reino de Dios
ni entrar en él sin haber nacido de nuevo. Esta verdad no siempre es
comprendida, incluso a veces por aquellos que frecuentamos las iglesias.
Un nuevo nacimiento no es más que desplazar
nuestras prioridades personales y poner las de Dios en su debido lugar. A
Nicodemo le resultó muy extraña la propuesta de Jesús y la interpretó
literalmente. Nosotros hoy debemos interpretar adecuadamente esta frase.
Debemos nacer de nuevo para aprender a perdonar como lo hacen los niños y las
niñas; debemos nacer de nuevo para recuperar el sentido profético de nuestras
vidas y neutralizar la apatía y la insensibilidad; debemos nacer de nuevo para
replantearnos las metas y sueños de nuestra existencia pues muchas veces simplemente
hemos heredado acríticamente lo que deseamos o nos planteamos como prioridad.
Nicodemo llegó de noche a Jesús, lo cual puede
simbolizar un período de crisis en su vida. Nuestras noches oscuras pueden ser
en cualquier momento, nadie está exento de problemas en este mundo, y es en
tales ocasiones cuando más dependemos de Dios y necesitamos un “borrón y cuenta
nueva”, un nuevo comenzar que deje definidas nuestras aspiraciones. No en balde
Jesús habla de “nacer del agua y del espíritu”, ambos elementos dinámicos que
nos deben impulsar en nuestro quehacer diario.
Oración: Amado Señor Jesús, muéstrame el camino de tu reino, hazme nacer de
nuevo. En tu nombre oramos, amén.
