OUR TIMES ARE IN HIS HANDS
PSALM 39:4
“My times are in your
hands.”
Psalm 31:15
Some people would
like to halt time to take maximum advantage of the present moment. Others,
those who are suffering, think that time drags on too slowly. Nevertheless,
time passes inexorably, just as human life does; whether we’re agitated or
rebellious, our lives in this world are limited.
The Christian knows
that every one of his days is in God’s hand, who is the author of time. He can
free us from death. We know of the grace of the God of eternity as well. Time
passes and does not return. No one knows if they will be alive tomorrow. Today
God wants to free us from eternal death; so it is today that we need to accept
his grace. Learning to count our days means living each one of them trusting in
God, making each day the happiest and most useful possible, not wasting time but
taking every opportunity to do the greatest possible good.
The Christian’s hope
is not in death, but in a happy eternity with our Savior. We believe in the God
of life, so it is not up to us to speculate about the end of our existence –
that’s God’s prerogative alone. Instead, our concern should be that of living a
life with meaning, even amid our limitations.
Prayer: Lord, despite knowing
that we’re advancing toward death, we do so trusting in your promise of eternal
life. Amen.

tus manos están mis tiempos”
Salmo
31:15
A
algunas personas les gustaría detener el tiempo para aprovechar al máximo el
momento presente. Otras, las que sufren, piensan que el tiempo pasa demasiado
lento. Sin embargo, el tiempo pasa inexorablemente, así como la vida humana. Ya sea que nos
ofusquemos o que seamos rebeldes nuestra vida en este mundo es limitada.
El
cristiano sabe que cada uno de sus días está en las manos de Dios, quien es
dueño del tiempo. Él nos puede librar de la muerte. Sabemos también de la
gracia del Dios de la eternidad.
El
tiempo pasa y no vuelve. Nadie sabe si mañana vivirá. Hoy Dios quiere librarnos
de la muerte eterna. Por lo tanto, hoy es necesario aceptar su gracia.
Aprender
a contar nuestros días es vivir cada uno de ellos confiando en Dios, hacer de
cada día el más feliz y útil posible, no malgastar el tiempo, sino aprovechar
cada oportunidad para hacer todo el bien posible.
La
esperanza del cristiano no es la muerte, sino la feliz eternidad con su
Salvador. Nosotros creemos en el Dios de la vida, así que no nos corresponde
especular sobre el final de nuestra existencia, esa prerrogativa solo la tiene
Dios. Nuestra preocupación más bien debe ser la de vivir una vida con sentido,
aún en medio de nuestras limitaciones.
Oración:
Señor, a pesar de que sabemos que estamos caminando hacia la muerte, lo
hacemos confiados en tu promesa de vida eterna. Amén.
