WHAT IS TRULY URGENT

EPHESIANS 5: 6-17

“… making the most of every opportunity

because the days are evil.”

Ephesians 5:16

Urgent is a word with which we live day to day in our hectic lives and one which has already lost all sense of haste and priority. Urgent has become a rhythm of life, a way of “getting through” life. Urgent is the poorest manner of living in this world, because in the day we’re living we leave the truly urgent things unresolved. 

Perhaps if we daily asked ourselves when we leave home to resolve our issues what the most “urgent” thing for us was we’d say: “I have to take care of the paperwork for my house, or for my trip.”; “I have to find food to feed my family.”; “Today I need to work to make some extra money for my kids.” And this isn’t bad; but at times it’s more urgent that we pause in our busy lives and for an instant we ask ourselves: “Why am I doing all this?”

Urgent is when you stop and see …how great you are! Urgent is when you’re walking along the street, raise your eyes, turn and look all around you. Observe the sky, the trees, the birds, and the people!  Becoming more human is urgent, and more brotherly! Urgent is knowing how to value the time a child asks of us. Urgent is rising early to watch the sun come up and feeling its warmth and giving thanks to God for such a great gift.

Urgent is feeling alive – in body and soul! Urgent is seeing your arms, your legs, your body, your intelligence, and veritably vibrating with life!

Urgent is taking a moment during your work, going outside and breathing deeply and feeling how the air fills your lungs and -- you’re alive!

    

Urgent is telling people you love them, how much you love them today, not waiting until tomorrow.

    

Urgent…is not allowing life to pass you by like a gust of wind, so that when you look back, you don’t see an old man who cannot turn back the clock…

Prayer:  Thank you, Lord, for the multiple blessings you give us daily and that we overlook,  but that without which, we could not live. Thank you for your eternal company, for your mercy, and for your love for us, your sinful children. Amen.

 LO QUE ES URGENTE

EFESIOS 5: 6-17

“… aprovechando bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos”

Efesios 5:16

Urgente es una palabra con la que vivimos día a día en nuestra agitada vida y a la cual le hemos perdido ya todo significado de premura y prioridad. Urgente es  ya un ritmo de vida... una forma de "pasar" la vida. Urgente es la manera más pobre de vivir sobre este mundo porque, el día que nos vamos, dejamos pendientes las cosas que verdaderamente fueron urgentes. Quizás si nos preguntaran a diario cuando salimos a la calle a resolver nuestros asuntos, que cosa es para nosotros “urgente” en ese día diríamos: “Hoy tengo que ir a resolver los papeles de mi casa, o de mi viaje;  “Tengo que buscar la comida de mi familia”; “Tengo que trabajar para buscar un dinero extra para mis hijos”. Y eso no está mal. Pero a  veces es más urgente que hagas un alto en tu ajetreada vida y por un instante, te preguntes: ¿Qué significado tiene todo esto que hago?

Urgente es que te detengas y veas... ¡cuán grande eres!

Urgente es que cuando camines por la calle, levantes la vista, voltees y mires a tu alrededor; observa el cielo, los árboles, las aves... ¡a la gente! Urgente es que seamos más humanos... ¡más hermanos!

Urgente es que sepamos valorar el tiempo que nos pide un niño.

Urgente es que una mañana, te levantes temprano y veas salir el sol, sientas su calor y des gracias a Dios por tan grande regalo.

Urgente es que te sientas vivo... ¡en cuerpo y alma! Urgente es que veas tus brazos, tus piernas, tu cuerpo, tu inteligencia, y de verdad ¡vibres con la vida!

Urgente es que te tomes un instante en tu trabajo, salgas y respires profundo, y sientas cómo el aire llena tus pulmones y... ¡estás vivo!

Urgente es que le digas a la gente que la quieres, cuánto la amas hoy, y no esperes hasta mañana.

Urgente… es que no se te vaya la vida en un soplo y que, cuando mires atrás, no seas ya un anciano que no puede regresar el tiempo…

Oración: Gracias Señor, por tus múltiples bendiciones, las  que nos das a diario y  que no vemos, pero que sabemos que sin ellas no podríamos vivir. Gracias por tu eterna compañía, por tu misericordia y por tu amor hacia nosotros, tus hijos pecadores. Amén.
